Sorry I should have mentioned the model number but the S27B970D is the one I am talking about. It's $1,199.00 from Newegg right now and puts me at $1,250.00 for overnight shipping. I'm so impatient. I just feel like the money i save in tax I put into the shipping. In my opinion there is nothing like ordering something and have it show up the next day, but don't listen to me, I don't exactly have a huge bank account and should never give monetary or shopping advice.

Supposedly the S27B970D is already professionaly calibrated. I know that might sound dumb because I know every monitor is different and every calibration does not produce the same results and you can't trust advertising but they really make a big deal about that in the ad. I'm sure it at least has a better out of the box picture than most cheaper monitors. This monitor is so nice looking too. The only thing I am worried about is input lag but I think I am for sure leaning towards this one. It's almost exactly my budget. It feels meant to be. lol. They say the 8 series that came out before this one isn't too bad so i am hoping this is the same.

I have a question about the scalar thing that everyone talks about that they say introduces input lag. If you feed the monitor the native resolution does the scalar still come into play?

I was also thinking. A lot of the playstation games I have played are like 30fps, so I am thinking even though I am only getting 60hz with the Samsung monitor as long as it's a steady 60fps I should see improvement with motion at least a little right. This is my first gaming computer so I should see a huge improvment over ps3. I am saving my games until I get this monitor. Right now I have Diablo 3, Max Payne and Battlefield. The Secret World looks really cool too. I can't wait to get this monitor.

With that sort of budget I say stay clear from A- panels. I'd rather get a nice couple of ZR2740s which look AMAZING with zero bleed, astonishing colors and complete gamut coverage, and use one as a main monitor and the second one in portrait to read news/PDFs, and general productivity.

i have an HP LP3065 i would be interested in selling if you are in or near southern california. i would let it go for cheap.

the screen is honestly too big for me, and the theme of my new build is energy efficiency, so i wouldnt mind dropping some of the wattage that this monitor uses.

That looks like a really good deal right now for $679 on newegg. But I was thinking that 2 is more than I have right now so maybe I should just get the best one I could now and then maybe get one of these as a second when the price drops even more.

If you are just using one monitor in portrait like you are saying does it really matter if they match. I don't think I could ever buy 2 of the samsungs for $1,200.00 each.

Also does that HP monitor natively go portrait or would you have to mod it.
