Hey guys/gals,

I've got a quick upgrade question for you. I'm not sure what I should upgrade next on my desktop...
Ram would be my choice but I want your guys opinion! Here are my system specs:

GPU: SAPPHIRE FleX Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 B45 Processor 3.10GHz
RAM: 4GB of Mushkin
PSU: APEVIA JAVA 650W
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 AMD 970
HD: No solid state, but a larger HD for storage and a smaller one for Games/OS.
I already have 2 monitors that I'm more than satisfied with along with all the peripherals I could need.

If you could just tell me what I should upgrade that would be nice, but if you can tell me what to upgrade to, that would be even better!!!

Sincerely,
Typhlosion

Ditch that PSU and go for a better unit, preferably anything from Seasonic/XFX/Corsair. A PSU is something that you should never skimp on. And I guess you're better off with one of the 2nd-gen sb CPUs, like the i3 2100 or i5 2400 if you don't have any intention to overclock.

I am procrastinating OCing my CPU but I do plan on doing it eventually. I've looked through a few PSUs on Newegg and I've come up with this one:
CORSAIR Gaming Series GS800 800W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply
I hope this one is alright, but if it's not, could you point me in the right direction?

Thank you so much for your input!! smile.gif

The GS800 is okay, but I'd go with a Corsair HX650 as it is more efficient, which will help you to keep the electricity bill low.

Can you tell how much $ you're willing to spend on upgrades?

RAM (Memory) if you do a lot of multi-tasking/ use RAM-heavy software (like photoshop) - cheapest computer upgrade

Your processor is a Phenom II X2 545 according to this:
http://www.cpu-world.com/info/AMD/Unlocking_cores_and_L3.html

Your motherboard has the latest AM3+ socket so you can upgrade the CPU to a high Phenom II X4 or even a Bulldozer

Power Supply: follow stryche9's suggestion

Video Card is fine.

Hard Drives: Can you name your hard drives?
