I had picked up my eraser at Curry's Art Supplies but I'm sure there are cheaper places to order them online especially as you aren't in a hurry to get it.

I had about 10-12 medium size eraser's which just barely did two motherboards. 1 or 2 more per board would have left me feeling a bit more comfortable.

LET as Micul mentioned in another thread can be found in the Marine section of Canadian Tire. I haven't had any luck finding it in hardware stores along with armaflex pipe insulation.

Dragon Skin is another alternative for LET. I'm sure there are also some other Silicon/rubber compound alternatives. Rasparthe was using something like that on the weekend if I'm not mistaken.

In my opinion, LET takes more time and prep than it's worth (gotta make sure you cover areas like the dimm slots so it doesn't seep under). LET is always good on the back side just for security though. Can't got wrong with full eraser, though it can get expensive:
700

Lately I've been doing eraser around the socket (easy to add/remove chip from socket) and clay everywhere else. The clay is cheap and one large brick can do many boards. Easier to work with than LET and eraser.
700

Try to find some neoprene or closed cell foam sheets (1/2inch thick or so). I think you can find this at HVAC suppliers or hardware stores. If you can't find any at all, kingpin sells some here http://kingpincooling.com/flat-sheet-foam/ . Plan on one large piece to put on the back of the board. For LN2 it should cover the entire back from the top socket area to at least the first PCI-e slot, for DICE it can be just around the mosfet, socket area.

If I'm not mistaken, he used painters tape and then a layer of foam tape. The painters tape was probably used just to make the removal of the foam tape easier/cleaner. The foam tape is generally very messy to remove and leaves bits and pieces stuck to whatever surface it was on.

Edit: Does the clay come off as easy as the eraser?

If he used armaflex, then using the tape between them is highly recommended. Armaflex leaves nasty sticky residue on anything it touches. Never had a problem with frost king though. Always use painters tape when using armaflex.

They clay is a bit more challenging to take off because it is softer and has less self-cohesion than eraser does. I toss the board in the freeze for a day, which makes it easier to remove. It can be hard to get out of tight spaces though. If you plan to resell boards later, it maybe be a problem, but I don't ever plan on doing that.

Yup. Painter's tape is water proof and it comes off easily, so I put a later of that down over the entire back of the motherboard, then I cover that with Armaflex.  That makes the removal of the Armaflex extremely easy.
