I'm undecisive when it comes to these things because I haven't experienced either IPS or 120hz. All I've used are 1080p tn panels so I could be blown away by an ips, but 120hz seems enchanting. I've been a cs player forever so 120hz seems it would improve gameplay from what I've been reading. Either way it would be an upgrade from what I am currently using.

Any advice would be great, I mostly game and do programming.

I'd go for the bigger res over 120hz

But thats just me, When I saw the BenQ at the store I honestly could not tell much difference between the 120hz and a 60hz, But when your going from 1920x1080 to 2560x1440 there is a big difference!

It depends on what you want to do. If you are playing RPG's and Action games that you want to look pretty, but aren't that concerned with twitchy-responsiveness.. get the IPS. If you are like me and are annoyed as hell every time you play BF3 and your screen is tearing and you turn on vsync and your mouse feels like it's in mud, and you can't stand it... then you buy a 120 hz monitor like I did =P

Preferences here are simple: My Planar SA2311W is 120hz 23.6" and has great colors, looks pretty good, but is not an IPS.

An IPS is higher res, great colors, 60 hz and just will absolutely not perform any different than your run of the mill LCD when it comes to wanting the best responsiveness out of your FPS games.

i just fired up css and tf2 with v sync on with my vw246h and it felt like i was stuck in mud lol...when i turned v sync off it felt much smoother and responsive but of course had tearing. I'm definitely going with the 120hz monitor...all i play are fps games and do programming, so basically no need for accurate colors or viewing angles since 99% of the time I'm directly in front of my monitor. Will do a review whenever i get it.

100% go with the BenQ. That is the sensation you feel.. it will make you feel like you have a CRT again.. Keep Vsync off *shudders at vsync being on* and let it run at 120 hz.. profit.

You'll have no regrets.
