WASDKeyboards keycap height?

Hi all,

I just bought a few WASDKeyboards keycaps and put them on my Filco MJ2 Ninja TKL. They look pretty sweet, but they're actually taller than my other (stock) keys. Has anyone seen this before?

It's probably entirely possible that I just put them on wrong (I've never changed keycaps before ). I pushed pretty hard but was afraid I'd break the switch if I went any harder.

It's not really that much of a problem when it comes to typing. Still a little annoying nonetheless.

It's actually funny you mention that. I ordered some WASD 'Windows' keys (or rather blank 'Windows' keys) to replace the dumb Cooler Master logo ones on my Quickfire Rapid, and I noticed that the WASD ones stick slightly above the Control and Alt on left, and Alt and Function on the right. They are indeed a bit taller than my stock as well. I also ordered an escape key from them but that looks taller too compared to the F1 key, but then again it's by itself somewhat so that doesn't bother me much.

You sure you ordered the right row?

Theres several key profiles for different rows. WASD keys should be the same height as your stock filco ones. Did you press on them hard to make sure the stem is firmly in there

edit: guess they are a little taller. I ordered some a long time ago for a blackwidow I had and I remember they were exact same high/profile as the stock keys

Yea I definitely pressed them as hard as I could on my Quickfire Rapid (based off Filco) and they're taller on this end too. It's very odd. The Blackwidow must have taller keys too.

Yes I'm sure. I ordered the WASD set, as well as an arrow key set and an R4 for an escape key. Each key's row is labelled on the inside so I was double sure. They seem to have the right profile and they look right. They're just a little taller.

The arrow and escape keys are isolated enough that it doesn't really matter, but it's noticeable with the WASD.

And again, I pushed as hard as I thought I could. As a side note, how easy is it to break a switch from pushing down too hard on it?

I believe that it's quite hard. You would have to physically break the switch, the plate that the switch is fixed on or the board's PCB.

I bought a WASD set and some R2 dots for FJ from WASDkeyboards, they all match my QFR keys perfectly. I can take a ruler and lay it across the rows and they touch at the same spots.

excuse my crappy pic, I only have an old 3.2mp camera

They are a little tighter than the stock keys when pulling them off, so maybe a little more pressure would make them flush with the rest.
