Still not a board I would recommend though, when the CHV is the same price usually.

So if it's down to the UD3 for Gigabyte as far as price point advantage, would you choose the UD3 or the BIOSTAR 990FX? I'm hoping to run RAM at 1866 and get probably a 10-15% OC out of either a 1045t or an FX-6100. . Nothing insane. I want to save on voltages, but I want them to be stable.

I would go for the Asus also I have got 3 open box mainboard from newegg and have not had one problem with any of them. Infact they all came with the box and every accessory that come's in the retail box.

The 890FXE didn't really like ref. clock overclocking much, I don't think this changed much on the 990 version, so it would probably not be the best for the 1045 since it has a locked multiplier.

either of those CPUs will support 1866 with fairly normal timings

4.7 is a nice OC for sure. Is that on your rig? The Bulldozers may seem like the way to go if I'm just looking for a holdover until Piledriver. Having something particularly suited for OCing and tweaking may be more fun if I'm using it as a temporary experiment.
