On my Asus Z77 motherboard, certain settings seem to produce unexpected results. I think it generally takes a little bit of experimenting to get things right. These new Intels are very different from any overclocking I have done before and sometimes it doesn't work like I think it should.

As for overheating on stock settings, my last CPU (Phenom II 955 with stock cooler) could overheat with everything on stock easily. My motherboard would default to 1.42 Vcore (when the CPU VID said it was supposed to be 1.35), but even at 1.35 it could overheat. I could get a stable stock speed at 1.22V .

I myself am currently stable with this, might be too much or too little but perfectly stable with this setup on my i5-3750k, yes it needs tweaking I know....but this should help you out even though I got the I5....lol tomato tomatoes

I'm just saying that in my opinion with 3930k which is almost top of line cpu and asus x79 mobo that if you leave everything on stock and dont oc and leave all power saving features on which is stock, and the 212 cooler your temps should not be in the 80's. That doesn't seem right to me. I only get into 80's when running prime95 with a 4.5ghz oc with 1.4v.

Now is clear why there is no offer for box version of this processor - can you imagine price? they will have to add cooler which can handle 100% this animal in any condition's. I don't think that Intel RTS2011LC CPU Water Cooler can do the job
