Same here. Luckily AVG and is very good at catching viruses and placing them in quarantine.

Here you go, as requested, shots of Lavasoft's AdAware:

Not quite so unpleasantly surprised. I just thought I should let you all know, I generally reformat every 2 to 3 weeks, it is also very rare for me to download anything other than Steam on my reformats. If you can find me a free antivirus that will run on server 2003 (AVG wouldn't), I will take screenshots of that result screen too.

The only protection I have is Firefox and an updated Server 2003 with various security fixes applied via nLite.

Use another OS. I keep Spybot around, but I never immunize, since that wastes registry space. Ad-aware finds nothing using a full scan. Not even any MRUs. My current system has never had any spyware, although my previous one had a lot. I suppose I learned.

Just for giggles, download a free trial of Spy Doctor at least, and run AdAware.....see what comes back on your machine....I bet you will be unpleasantly suprised.

There is no way to be safe by "not being stupid", unless you do nothing on the net but stare at the Google homepage. Viruses, trojans, and especially spyware can come in from almost any link you go to and you won't know until you get there, and then only if you have software to find them.
Another freshly installed OS could be used to scan, but there's still always nothing. No programs ever find anything on my computer. I'm also confident that the more l33t hacks won't work, since I don't do stupid stuff like use the standard windows ethernet drivers.

How many of you have something like Norton Antivirus, use Internet Explorer, or have standard windows ethernet drivers? Maybe it's you that should learn something about security!

...unless you have no ports open and don't use standard ethernet drivers. How will a hacker know how to hack you if they don't know what they are targetting?

I used to do that, but more recently I've taken the lax approach of never updating anything.
