You should be aware that this configuration has a built-in CPU VID Control and depends on numerous factors. Advise someone who has just bought a processor that has a bad processor is incorrect.

Ambient temps where a little lower yesterday, around 26C - 78F, but my load temps where still hitting 80-81C... still it seems higher then others I have seen with this CPU. I am seeing a lot of people posting screenshots with the CPU in the mid 60s on full load and that is making me think my temps are around 15C higher than they should be...

Earlier yesterday I took a 2.7AMP fan from a U5 Server and put it on the other side of the hyper 612 while prime95 was cooking away at 80C when I turned the server fan on the temp dropped all the way to 69C O_o of course I can't leave it like that because it sounds like a jet engine but this means the TIM and the IHS is ok right? and more of a problem that the heatsink itself is just not losing the heat fast enough with the fan it comes with?

If I replaced the Hyper 612 with a TPC-812 or Thermaltake WATER2.0 Pro would that help that much... or maybe just a other good 120mm fan for a push pull with the hyper 612.

Personally i would recommend a H80/H100 at a minimum for a 3930K/60X chip, they are hot buggers and do need something better than aircooling.

There isn't really unsafe temps to be honest as the CPU will protect itself @ 91c to prevent damage. Prime small FFT's keeping under 80c is the general rule of thumb though.

In case of this processor fact that you are proud owner of an water cooler is not enough for clocks over 4.2 GHz whistle.gif as you say MINIMUM
There is lot of articles how is easy to overclock this processor but no one was saying that part easy is about putting a numbers only applaud.gif

Are you using the correct LGA 2011 mounting parts for your Hyper 212 ? If not you won't be getting the proper alignment and mounting pressure on the CPU. With your ambient and good case air flow you should idle in the mid to upper 30's and not see more than 70c running prime briefly.
