"We have now found the missing cornerstone of particle physics," Rolf Heuer, director of the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN), told scientists.

that is even scarier!basicly they could create a hydrogen nuclear bomb and a anti-hydrogen nuclear bomb(basicly the anti mater counter part)

make them collide and explode?wow!technology is way more advanced then i thot!

I would not worry since 0.0000000001 grams of antimatter costs a few hundred millions USD.

Plus containment would take something the size of a small building.

Why bother? You just take anti-matter and mix it with any matter.... that itself would cause a release of energy.

However, an anti-matter bomb bigger than existing nuclear weapons would cost a few hundred trillion dollars and be impossible to transport.
Once again...

You are thinking of dark matter, which theoretically constitutes around 85% of the matter in the known universe and without dark matter there wouldn't be enough mass or energy to continue with the expansion of the universe much less at an accelerated rate that we see.

thats right dark matter. my bad lol.. I knew it was one of those two. Physics boggles my mind, but i find it so interesting.

ya but one video said that a coin size amount of anti mater would be enough to full the colombia shuttle

The weight of a single US dime is over 2 grams.

1/1,000,000,000 of a gram costs over $100M USD... do the math.

If no one really gets it,This particular particle is whats keeping everything with mass from reaching light speed

so if we can manipulate it light speed possible with minimal effort

cars will be able to do a billion miles with a drop of gas

not yet but maybe some day

Maybe... And if we can figure out how to merge the empty spaces in our atoms with the empty spaces in other atoms then we can walk through walls. biggrin.gif

I'm not holding my breath though thumb.gif

I believe they only need to verify the spin of the particle at this time. If it's zero then it's the Higgs boson, if it's two then it's some other exotic boson.
