7870 - Issues resuming from dimmed screen

Thread Starter
Hey guys,
I am having issues with my HD 7870 resuming from a "dimmed screen" (Windows' screen dimming feature).
On 12.4, upon resuming from a dimmed screen, the system resumes, but only shows a cursor, and must be rebooted.
On 12.6, the system doesn't even resume, and the screen stays dimmed (again, have to reboot to fix).
Any ideas what could be causing this and/or how to fix it?
Thanks.

Yeah I get the same issue. To resolve this, I lock my pc (Windows key + L) and I switch my screen off. This way, I can switch the screen back on and I don't nee to reboot in order to resume.

So you manually turn the screen off every time you leave the PC? :/

WelL I haven't tried leaving the screen on. You could try, but how lazy must you be if switching your monitor off is an issue?

My keyboard is backlit so if the lights stay on, I know I can just resume instead of rebooting. Maybe you can also use some sort of indicator?

I should try that.
Thanks. I just hope AMD fix this issue eventually, it's quite a nuisance.

Agreed. I'll try leaving my monitor on too and see if it's fine. I'm not sure if it's some CCC settings but locking the pc seems to be the only fix atm.

Do you turn off your screen after you lock the PC?

Yeah but when I get home I'll leave my monitor on overnight and see if I can resume with a reboot.

What's the point in that though? The whole point is that we want to be able to turn our screens off to conserve power and lengthen their lives.
Have you tried just turning your monitor off without locking the computer, then resuming?

Yeah, it didn't work. Windows still goes into powersaving and doesn't allow me to resume unless I reboot.
