PhysX is a proprietary NVIDIA software that uses GPU resources to simulate physics in games. There are competitors, such as the physics library in Battlefield 3, which efficiently uses the processor to achieve the same results.
In any case, for a time NVIDIA was promoting the use of a secondary GPU to do physics calculations. This is no longer required, as the Fermi and Kepler architectures are sufficiently powerful to do the physics and rendering simultaneously without the aid of a second graphics card.
My advice to you would be to stick with the 460.

It's hardware-accelerated physics modeling, and it only works in PhysX-enabled games.
The only game IMO worth playing with PhysX is Batman Arkham City, and you'll need at least GTX260 level card to fully use the PhysX.
Unless there is an older PhysX title you like, like Mirror's Edge maybe, I wouldn't bother. A GTX460 can probably run Mirror's Edge with PhysX enabled by itself.
