What LGA1366 mobo for good CrossFire GPU spacing?

Thread Starter
Hey, folks. I have an ASUS P6T and a 980X kicking around from my hardware reviewer days, but we all know the P6T had pretty miserable PCIe x16 spacing for multi-GPU configs.

I have a pair of 7970 GHz Edition boards that I'd like to CrossFire, but I'm not going to suffocate them by slapping them right on top of one another.

Can anyone recommend some good LGA1366 boards that can give me x16/x16 or x16/x8 with two free slots between the GPUs?

2 free slots between cards... you're gonna have to look at motherboards meant for Tri/Quad SLI to get such spacing, like eVGA Classified3 or Classy 4-Way...

The Asus P6T Deluxe gives you a three slot between the first and the second pcie, yet it is limited to 2-way multi gpu only like the old Intel DX58SO.
A better one still triple slot clearance it could be the Foxconn Renaisance or the Asus P6T6 WS Revolution but with the 3- way multigpu support as well.

Much better, you should stick to a newer one with an excellent 4 slot spacing and a 3-way sli/cf ready (and the newer sata 3 and usb 3.0) like:

- Gigabyte G1. Sniper, G1 Guerilla, Intel newer DX58SO2

The best 4-way sli / cf X58 beast motherboards where you can use the first and the third pcie slot (4 slot spacing), all new models (particularly recommended with the 980x or the 990x) are:

- Gigabyte G1. Assassin, X58A-OC, X58A-UD9 (XL-ATX), Asus Rampage 3 Extreme, Rampage 3 Extreme black edition

Hope I was clear enough smile.gif

A crossfire is however working on an older, two slot spacing (5mm clearance like my UD5 and 6870CF) as well wink.gif
