Why can't I pass 250 stable?

Thread Starter
ok, so i'm workin with the rig down below, anyway, i've tried everything i can think of or have been told to try on this board, and i can't figure out why I always get stuck around 243 ish to be stable.

What i've tried:

Vcore (even up to 1.65 range)
Tref
Data Skew <- may still have to play around w/ this one some more
I've even put my DDR500 Ram on a divider!!!!!

I'm having the same problem with my 4400+ and with my FX-55. There has to be something i'm missing

another thought, Is it possible that something is wrong w/ this board, it posts and everything, but just doesn't OC (Which is why i bought DFI).

Thanks
AE804

Did you set the HTT Multiplier lower than 4x? You want FSB x HTT < 1000

That could be your problem

Good point!
Also make sure you have anything with "Spectrum" disabled.
Also, try disable legacy USB too!

Gonna need every BIOS setting you have on that board. I'm no CFX expert but I do know DFI boards pretty well. I might be able to help.

OOh!!! just saw something. There's an excell sheet over on DFI street that has all the setting for +250 on my ram... they all have their ram set at like 2.5-2.6 V. I think i have mine up quite higher than that. I'll lower it and try again.

So... instead of just bumping, i'll let you all know that I ran Memtest86 last night and the memory passed 13 times at 250..so i don't think it's the memory that's holding me back.... FX-55's are seemingly notorious for making that 3.0GHz mark...so i really don't think it's that...I really hope that it's not the board....??? I hope i haven't gotten 2 bad stepping chips...so i assume it's either one of the following:
A) bios problem (upgrade/downgrade bios or a setting isn't quite right)
b) bad board...but wouldn't that manifest it's self in like not booting?

Anyway, that's the update for today. last i checked, my CPU was priming at 10X250 again.... we'll see where it is when i get back.

Hmmm, I would say, since you have the 4400, try OCing that on the board, and see how high you can get it. If they both do badly, then it's probably the board. You could always go to DFI's website and try to download the new BIOS.
