They are not the most comfortable headphones
They have a limited soundstage unless you are willing to pay lots of money (think GS1000)

Grados are very good headphones, but they are best used for listening to rock. Once you get past the SR series to the RS and GS series then you're doing alright. but for the money, if you are looking for an all-around can then a pair of Senn HD595's would beat a pair of Grado SR225's hands down
what r u rtalking about i have a SR80 that i got for 80 dollars on ebay. it blows the 200 dollar sennheiser sets out of the water. they go extremely low with the bass and the EQ setting on it is just right. the imaging blows out just about any 200 dollar set headphones. there is no such thing as certain headphones being opted for certain genre of music that is an ignorant statement. any set of speakers/headphones that are calibrated correctly to produce frequencies the way they are suppose to be reproduced are perfect for any type of music.. just because you think Rap or a certain genre of music it suppose to have bass doesnt mean u should look for a headset that will pound the bass out.... that just means they did a poor job of balancing frequencies.. comfort is just right on the sr80s they have a metal band that will mold to your head with time.. im sure the more higher-end cans are even more comfy.. you CANNOT beat Grado's performance, especially for the price... i have yet to use any other set with imaging and staging properties that the Grado headphones have... and there are thousands of hard-core audiophiles that agree.

what do u mean wehn u say theyre not great for gneeral allaround purpose?? either they reproduce frequencies how theyre supose to or they DONT. thats it. thats like saying grado headphones are not good because although they sound super-great with music the bullets in counterstrike sound too clear.. what is your definition of "all-around general use" for headphones?? i not only use my grados to play CS and listen to MP3s in crystal-clear quality, i use my grados to produce music and it is more accurate than other headphone i have used. i can produce with the grados burn my produced track to CD take it to any audiophile-tweeked soundstage and it will sound just like it did on the grados. i have used sennheiser hdd600s and sony's MDR-F1, two critically acclaimed two-hundred ollar headsets and as great as they sounded, they were not worth the extra 75 dollars or so over my Sr80's.... the Sr80s do the job just right

Did you listen to the other cans amped or unamped?

I've mentioned several times about the SQ of Grados, I've personally listened to the SR line up through SR125's and own SR80's

I won't get too detailed, it should be enough to say that the signature Grado sound is forward and aggressive. The highs are shrill and the bass is somewhat lacking, but gets better with higher models. And as I've said before the soundstage just isn't there to make Grados a good choice for gaming. Yes, they're great for music, but just as not all speakers sound the same headphones sound different. Some headphones have sound signatures that are better for one genre of music or for one use better then other headphones. Likewise, Grados tend to be better for rock then Senns do. (the Senn house sound is a laid back, detailed sound)

But you are obviously happy with your SR80's and that's great! John Grado would be happy to know that. I'm happy with my SR80's as well... but they simply aren't as good for gaming/movies/classical as my HD595's

noob, I own the Grado SR-125's and I have to agree with Soloz2, yes they are really good headphones but they aren't good for gaming. There really isn't any sound stage with them. They are great for Rock and metal which is what they were made for. But anything else and thats where the Senns or Beyer really shine, because they have a more detailed sound stage.

Anyways, I would get a pair of Senns either the 595's or the 555's. Or if you can get afford it, and what I am probally be getting soon, a pair of Beyer DT770's. Because of the research I have done, they seem to be recommended more for gaming then any other can.

I recommend you fix up the grammar, spelling and format to make it easier to read. However it's good to hear another opinion
