I haven't posted anything yet, I was supposed to get it this morning but overclockers.co.uk apparentely don't understand the concept of next day delivery rolleyes.gif. I'll post some photographs once I get it.

Recieved mine today and I'm very, very pleased so far, I managed to get it wall mounted without any issue, coming from a 1080p TN monitor, the resolution is amazing to have, colours are better than TN but, I did buy into the hype a little, they're better but not spectacular. No dead/stuck pixels and no issues thus far, the monitor runs very cool (barely warm to the touch), using displayport on a single GTX 670 (2gb) with the BIOS being accessable (as someone confirmed earlier I believe) and games at 1440p are, well, quite the treat, I'm using TFTCentrals calibration settings with a slight boost in brightness for preference.

Packaging and contents (documentation not shown):

Removed the bezel via instructions on TFTcentral which was very easy to do, I used a butter knife.

gRqe2.jpg

Before I removed the stand I had a quick peak underneath.

6607f.jpg

DGM next to my old, 1080p 24", not a enormous size difference but in use, there's a large difference.

c8XDy.jpg

Brightness set to 100% in a very dark room, the backlight bleeds a little near the top left and bottom right, the streaks of light are smudges from when I removed the stand and forgot to clean the display.

LKbU4.jpg

And after a couple hours of cable management, the switch is complete.

Lcy4j.jpg

Very pleased with my short time with it so far, I will update with any issues that may occur but as of now it's splendid, I'm very happy I spent the £150 over the Korean monitors for a safer buy, and the 3yr overclockers warranty is lovely to have and peace of mind, my experience with overclockers is a very positive one, I ordered next day however there was a lapse in shipping and it was delayed by one day, however the customer support and forum support were extremely helpful and refunded the shipping costs immediately and apologized for the inconvenience, great service and a lovely product.

Hope that helps anyone deciding over getting the monitor, the input lag I haven't noticed yet (similar to that of the U2711) and after using matte monitors for ~10 years, the glossy isn't an issue at all (this was my main concern), if anything, it's a positive thing.

All the best.

Thank you for that very informative first impression of the monitor. That last picture drool.gif

I myself have never had any issues with OCuk either, but they do get negativity on this forum for some strange reason. After reading through and looking at your photo's, it's safe to say I'll be purchasing one of these monitors in the future.

However I do have a couple of questions:

Would you say the build quality is good? Did you try the stand first before removing it, how was it?

James, I didn't test the stand but going by other impressions, the stand is very not that great, flimsy and a bit wobbly.
The build quality on the monitor itself is top notch though, the only querk on mine was a slight cut into the plastic near the HDMI port (see picture above), not a crack, more of a straight scratch.

Well as long as I can tilt the Monitor back a couple of degree then I'm happy. I have been contemplating a wall mount:

I've just got one of these monitors, which is an interesting story in itself (straight from the Director at the DGM warehouse/repair centre in the UK). I'll get back to that later but for now I think the 1st post should add in that it's a three year warranty as many will read and assume 1 year. It should also mention that it uses an A grade panel (not A+ or A- but A) - and that is straight from the horses mouth. There's probably barely much difference between A and A- but it does distinguish the monitor and its market segment a little from the Korean models. I think TFTCentral said A+ but the Director distinctly said A and not A+.

The warehouse in in Ruislip, NW London. If you're on the fence and near, I'd recommend it: 1) I got a discount to even DGM's own web price, 2) It instils confidence that it's a real product from a real, albeit small, company who deal with returns, warranties & repairs 3) I still get the 3 year warranty and 4) I got to check it at leisure for dead pixels and swap if not satisfied - they'd just open another new box for me! (In the end, only saw 2 and the first was faultless too - more on that later).

Ah right, I'm glad you have had a good experience with DGM as a company, and your lucky you live so close to their warehouse! tongue.gif

Got any pictures? Impressions overall of the monitor itself?

No pics I'm afraid but same as you've seen in other posts. It's pretty thin (an advantage of LED) and light with the basic base everybody has mentioned - I'm definitely getting a VESA desk mount for extra height + manoeuvrability.

Bottom line is this - it's a beautiful picture though I feel the black, which were deep, could crush detail a little (and couldn't alter it in the settings even with brightness at max). The other major thing for me - and this is personal preference - is that this was the first time I'd looked at a glossy screen. Indeed they look sharper with more vibrant colours but I'm right next to french windows and the reflections were bugging the hell out of me.

My main monitor is a venerable Dell 2405FPW which is one of the first affordable 1900x1200 screens. It's PVA with a strong anti-glare screen that I love, even though they can seem less sharp than gloss coatings. It's also very bright with 500 cd/m2 CCFL backlighting. This is a big deal for me as I don't game very often but with this monitor, I can see all the peeps hiding in dark corners in e.g. CS source etc. These same people were ghosts on the DGM with brightness at max as brightness goes to 350 cd/m2.

All this made me realise that I must have: a good anti-glare coating, good backlighting preferably with CCFL as it has a wider colour gamut and I suspected was responsible for the milder intensity curve and colour 'look' that I prefer personally. So I bought a Hazro HZ27WB as it has all these things (except maybe brightness, still rated at 350 cd2/m) and benefits from Dual-DVI only with no scalar so lower input lag (though I'm no pro or twitch gamer so it's a marginal advantage at best for me). Overclocker did it for me for £330 incl VAT and shipping but it's now £380 incl VAT (but not shipping). Uses the same panel as the Dell U2711.

Well it's flimsy build quality with even the panel itself seemingly a smidge loose in the casing. But the anti-glare is just perfect for me and the dark scenes do test a little brighter for me. Still not as bright as the Dell but that's insane anyway and I can make out feautures in the ear

But I must say that the service from DGM was fantastic. I could test the DGM at the warehouse but only on lower res VGA sadly. I noticed a black patch at the centre bottom edge in windows; they said it was just because of the connection but I didn't buy that so they got a new one out and exactly the same thing. I just couldn't imagine why the image would be corrupted in one spot just because of VGA. The eventually connected it to a proper desktop at native res and sure enough, there were no dead pixels! So they were right after all! There was no outdoor light in the testing room hence I didn't notice any glare.

If anyone wants the director's details, just PM me - I managed to get a *new* pixel perfect DGM for £300 though I can't promise anyone would get the same price. In fact I saw the ad initially on gumtree and couldn't believe someone was selling such a thing on a not-so-techy site (just search "1440" and monitor I think in gumtree). This might also make him honour the price if you go through this ad again even though it's old.

The DGM did show my BIOS (which I had some doubts about given that my 5850 is listed incompatible with many of the korean models) though it was much slower to show the details in the first place.

The bottom line is that the DGM is a fantastic monitor with a beautiful picture at a very good price if - if you know that you don't mind shiny reflective gloss monitors. And the 3 year warrant really does help put you mind at rest if you're worried.

My bloomin' Hazro on the other hand has one stuck bright red pixel. It's close to the far right edge which is good but I can't RMA this for a new one without paying more for a replacement now that the price has shot up. I'm finickity but I might just have to learn to live with this corrupted pixel after all...

Been asked by a friend if I can repair the power brick that ships with this monitor (LP-2460)
His sisters dog had a go at it & chewed up the DC cable near the PSU (pity it wasn't the AC side!)
It still works but now has insulating tape wrapped round the exposed wires, not nice.
I can fix it a the cost of shortening the cable by about 4 inches, if only I could get it open.
There are 2 screws at one end but removing them doesn't seem to do much.
Anyone discovered the secret to opening one of these?
