Recommendations for a copper CPU block

Thread Starter
Hey all, to put it simply Im about to embark on my first custom loop for my sig rig and have been looking at different cpu blocks in the last few days and my head is spinning.Ive just purchased a hardware labs black ice stealth 240 rad which has a copper core so im looking for a block to match, this will be a cpu only loop no gpus yet but maybe later on.Im also looking at the xspc D5 pump res bay combo for the rest, I know this is very subjective so if anyone has had good experiences with any particular block I love some feedback amd thanks in advance OCN Brains trust smile.gif

XSPC Raystorm is a high quality waterblock. I got it with the Raystorm kit on Frozencpu. It was easy to install and seems to be cooling well. Working on overclocking now. I am at 4.7ghz with temps in the high 60s low 70s.

greg, if you are at 4.7 low 70s with a sandy bridge chip something is wrong, unless you are running very high voltage. I have a raystorm on the way because ive seen a lot of good reviews.

My 2500k @ 4.5GHz barely hits 55C on a H60 for reference...so yea that seems way high... I was at 4.6GHz for awhile and I think I saw it top out around 61-62C

Now that I am home I see you have a 3770k. Nice temps, makes me look forward to mine even more.

I woke up this morning stressing it all night, and I notice that my temps actually went down to the low-mid 60s.

I would say the EK Supreme/Supremacy HF copper yields the best performance, and the Raystorm is a close second. Depends if you're still willing to purchase from EK based on their recent fiasco.

Take a look at the copper Kryos from Aqua. http://skinneelabs.com/ac-kryos-hf/

EK blocks are good, however with the recent issues, apparently zero customer support, and the price difference xspc raystorm is the way to go.

yeah I know I was considering an EK block but reading alot of negative things about them lately kinda turned me off, seriously considering the Raystorm copper but in the reviews when they pull it apart the pin matrix looks like its machined by a blind man and just doesn't have the precision of other blocks.
