What graphics card(s) do I need to support 3 catleaps. - Page 3

The problem with most of the newer cards is they might have 2 DVI ports, but usually only 1 is a dual link, so to add a 2nd or 3rd monitor you need an active displayport adapter for dual link which are $60-$100. I'd price out the adapters before you commit to the graphics card.

Ok what do you guys think about getting the Mutli model catleaps and running them at 1080p for eyefinity? I already have to get one Multi model because I wanna use my ps3 sometimes on it so it would only be $200 more biggrin.gif just a thought.

Yeah this why im thinking of just using xfire on 2 6770 and 1 5770 and just gaming in 1080p eyefinity would this work?

One, you cannot crossfire 6770s and 5770s. As for gaming across 3 1080P monitors, I wouldn't even consider it outside a 670, 7950, 680 or 7970. I play BF3 on high usually multiplayer at 5760x1080 with 2 7970s and its fine. If you had a single 7970, you could probably play most games at that resolution at a low-medium, depending on the game. If you are just looking to create one large eyefinity desktop, then sure, any card that supports it is fine, but I wouldnt even begin to consider eyefinity gaming without a single 7970, but most likely 2 to be comfortable.

I stand corrected, however, just because it works, doesn't make it a great idea.

When running Crossfire, only the main card's display outputs will be active. Any second, third or fourth card will stop giving outputs.

good to know ty thumb.gif that's weird cause i have a old ati card i use to run a tv and then i have the 5770 to power my current eyefinity setup with 3 19 inch monitors so i was just wondering how does the old ati card work does it just run separately?

Minimum 2x GTX 670's, and the 4GB will be pointless unless you go to 3+ cards, as you wont be getting good enough fps to play on settings that will use over 2GB.

Yes, it runs separately. Crossfire will be disabled if you have anything plugged into the second card.
