3DMark 11 Physics Score... Low :/ - Page 5

Try something for us. Set it back to default. See what kind of score you get then (if you haven't already).

I'm not sure how far off your CPU score is.
With my old Core i7 870 (stock clock) which has hyper threading which 3Dm11 likes I scored 6933 point.. So if you score 6000 point pr stock clock with out hyper threading thn it seems ok to me.
Going from 1333MHz CL9 2T memory to 1600MHz CL8 1T gave me about 350 points more in my current CPU score (from 8950 to 9330).

Go to Advanced Tab, click Reset to Performance Level and only leave Physics Test on, then click Window Mode. Lay it out like this so we can see your CPU-Z Main and Memory tabs, Real Temp, and Task manager or other sensor panel screen showing CPU and memory utilization:
521

Then Click Run Custom. At around the 14th minute second, pull a screenshot like so:
469

This will show us your loaded CPU-speed, utilization, mem-utilization, and temps. If it's heat throttling or memory paging that's making your score low, we'll see it. Or at least we may notice other things. And do it with Stock speed as well.

There's something wrong, a 2500K should be scoring much more than what he is getting. For an example my i7 920 at 3.5Ghz without hyperthreading gets a 6420 physics score in 3dmark11. (7910 with ht enabled) This is with slow ram too, its only at 1336.

His screen shows his 2500k at 4Ghz and its only scoring 6026.

@alex-tpc, that is only possible if he has the paid version of 3dmark11. Which he may have, just mentioning. Good advice.

Ahh ok. I hadn't noticed he had OC'ed and that didn't do anything. Yes then there is a culprit somewhere...

Good point. If it's only just the Basic version, next best thing is to make sure Real Temp and Task Manager are both running on the foreground before running 3dmark11 and then making a screenshot immediately after. Task manager should show cpu utilization trend still and of course Real Temp will show max temp reached to see if it's heat throttling bringing him down.

Might also be good if he can run some WPrime benches at stock and 4Ghz to see if it's just a 3DM11 problem or a system-wide problem.

Different versions of 3DMark11 give different Physics scores. What version are you running? If you feel like it, try v1.0.1, 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 and see what the difference is smile.gif

Physics score is also sensitive to Memory MHz, timings and channels as well as # threads enabled.. I'm surprised you get such a small difference between single and dual channel.

While doing nothing, is it supposed to spike like this? And isn't my CPU usage very high considering that I'm not running or doing anything in particular?
