Is This Worth $2500? - Page 2

Thread Starter
Whoahh, I thought my rig was going to be really amazing o_O
But I guess not.
Without the peripherals and everything the computer is about $2000 O_O
I guess you're right , I don't need one of everything.
But I do need two mice.
I really want to futureproof, and I want to make YouTube videos that's why I need a silent computer with a good microphone
Can anyone give me some good suggestions for $2500 including peripherals (Hopefully Silent) smile.gif

P.S. Can everybody please try to make their posts less "WHAT THE HELL? HOW CAN THAT BE WORTH $2500", "You're 13 how can you afford all that". Well my parent's are paying for it.

Well can you build it yourself or do we need to go through NCIX? that is the real question

edit- and the reason some people are being a-holes about the setup is because you are going through an online builder and we all know the actual prices for the components and what you COULD get if you built it yourself.

For $2500 why get a midrange card? For all intents and purposes, a GTX680 and HD7970 still outperform it - it only comes close to performing on par when the 2 high end are only moderately OC'd.

PS
You people are sending a Canadian to a US store with prices in USD. Seriously

EDIT: I would get a 680, a deathadder (cheaper and better) and a Noctua D14. Get a cheaper motherboard (you dont need that maximus for such a silly OC of 4.4ghz) and youre set.

What we need to know first is this.

What are you going to use the computer for? Gaming? Workstation? Recording? We need to know before we can really help you.

For instance, the rig I'm building (~$1600) is for gaming, everyday browsing, and light workstation use. And quiet and looks are important to me. So I picked a good overclocking board and a 2600k and a fair bit of RAM, an EVGA GTX670 FTW for gaming (better value than the 680 honestly), and a watercooling loop (XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 kit and the EVGA Hydrocopper block and red tubing). I picked a Crucial M4 SSD for silent operation and ultra-fast response in applications, and I'm putting everything in an NZXT Switch 810 for looks with an NZXT Hale82 PSU that I already had. Plus a few extras like a Xonar DG and the NZXT card reader and maybe some red LEDs.

That is how you build a system; you look at what you're going to use it for, and what's important to you, and then pick out parts that will provide the best performance in those areas while meeting your budget and any other requirements.

The Zotac GeForce GTX 670 AMP! outperforms the EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Ref. Card for about $50 cheaper.
+ I am not going to be able to build it myself, my dad doesn't wanna go through all the hassle. I'd rather just have someone build it for me.

Edit : I will be using it for HD Video Editing, 3D Modeling, Gaming, Movies & Music, Facebook and everything else.

You can't compare a midrange card OC'd to the max to a moderately OC'd high-end card.

Then get a 2600k or an Ivy Bridge i7, a decent board and 8-16GB of RAM, the 670 (personally I recommend the EVGA GTX670 FTW but then I work for EVGA so wink.gif), a 128GB or 256GB Crucial M4 SSD, a 1TB hard drive for video files and such, a nice mid-tower or full-tower case and a 650W power supply so you can run SLI later on if you desire.

Here is all on newegg. I did not deal hunt. Only thing I left off was a CPU cooler and dvd drive. This gives you a 3570, 7970, 1080p 23" monitor, soundcard, ssd, and overall much more. OEM version of windows would save you more as well as searching for some discounts. Its not a terrible deal what your getting, but you could do a whole lot better.

To note, if I hunted for deals, I could probably drop that another $100-200. Also, I didnt go through reviews on much, but generally everything was at least 4 eggs. I recommend a little research here. If I were to drop or downgrade any part, I would first go with the soundcard.

Why does everyone freak out when someone doesn't have a 680 after a $2000 budget. Some of us like to put that money other places you know, into the aesthetics of the build. We are not all "OMG i needz best performance nao" kind of people. I can say for one my build was $2250 but I only put a 670 in there with a 24" monitor. I put a decent amount into the WC aesthetics of the build and making my color scheme work because that mattered to me.
