Q4 arrival and 4Ghz over 8 cores; and IPC will far improve over Bulldozer, as we know from Trinity. Not bad. If the improvements are nice and I have cash, then I'm looking forward to dropping one into my board ![]()
However, today we learned that AMD will push this CPU from Q3 to early Q4 2012 as now it claims that it can launch this processor in late October. AMD FX 8350 is an eight-core with 16MB cache, Vishera based 32nm core with 4.0GHz default clock and ability to jump to 4.2GHz with turbo core automatic overclocking.
Given that Trinity APU was soundly able to beat Llano APU/Phenom II IPS & IPW and closely match (if not beat? I'm not sure) IPC it looks like we could finally be seeing some classy performance with an AMD CPU. Remember: the FX-8350 also has the L3 cache boost that Trinity APU doesn't have; and given the later release, may have different/further improvements. The first-gen FX could OC much farther than Phenom II; so with at least Phenom II-class IPC, more cores, and still lower power consumption (Bulldozer FX improved power consumption from Phenom II per core and Piledriver FX will go further - remember, you could fit 4 Trinity cores & full 7660G GPU into 65W TDP) , looks like we'll have some serious processor options from AMD later this year.
This is a 125W TDP part by the way guys so choose your board wisely (VRMs count! pun not intended)
Please take note of the section; rumors.
