So, I thought it wise to get the above mentioned GPU for my HTPC, it performs great and certainly does all what i've expected and needed it to, especially intrigued by the silent no-fan built, I just thought it perfect...
Having a small case (Silverstone Milo) it gets a tad cramped and I expected a bit of more heat over the norm due to the bad airflow, there really isn't much room to route your wiring in... With that being said, my GPU sits at 72°C Idle, spiking 81°C on full load, which is scary to say the least.. I've already tried re-applying the thermal paste, which only really gets me a 2-3°C improvement, at this point I'm not sure if I even want to keep the HTPC running, I can't seem to get better airflow to it or even lower its idle temperatures in any way.
Would you recommend ditching it entirely, grabbing a better heatsink for it or perhaps someone already made experiences with the HD5450 similar to mine, I don't mind a bit of heat seeing how the 3 HDDs and even the CPU rock a solid 25-30°C in idle (Though, it is summer right now and the room temperature's spiking up to 24°C), but I feel 70°C and rising is just a wee bit excessive at this point.
