Bi Yearly cleaning now PC wont boot properly

Thread Starter
I have this loop for 3 years now and I clean it twice a year without issues.

But now after cleaning the loop and reapplying my MX2 paste on the cpu my pc wont boot anymore.

It starts for 2-4 seconds then shuts down with a kind of electrical buzz. It's the first time ever I encountered this issue.

What can be the problem? short circuit somewhere? did I spill some distilled water on my mobo or any of the components? A leak (dont see any and Ive checked every possible fitting)

My mobo lights up with the Power led and mem ok led. But then it stops and shuts down.
It then tries to boot on its own again several times.

Most of the times the PC wont boot using the power button either.

Is the loop fully filled and bled of the majority of the large air bubbles? Although it could be a short it could also be thermal shutdown if the heat isn't being transferred from the CPU.

yes the loop is fully bled. I used a PSU jumpstart piece that I always use to get the pump going for roughly 30 minutes.

I must say now after an hour the PC starts longer but I get no picture on my screen and my USB peripherals arent lighting up.

This leads me to believe I somehow spilled some fluid on my mobo or something.
I use distilled water and hope it didnt get conductive over the 6month period. Else Im ****ed and my mobo is toast.

Or is it still something else?

Just to rule anything out, did you already reseat CPU, GPU, RAM, and check cables? A few years ago when I was cleaning my PC with a can of compressed air for some reason it wouldn't boot. I reseated the RAM and it worked fine afterwards. I didn't even touch the RAM during the process.

It also could be that your CPU block isn't tight enough, or the CPU is not being cooled, so your system is shutting down.

Did you by any chance unplug the 4/8 pin CPU power connector to the motherboard while cleaning?
Did you remove the CPU from the mobo? My guess is its a bent CPU pin.

Reset your CMOS, take the batt out for a good 20-30min and pop her back in and give it a try.

If it boots for a few seconds then shuts down it sounds like either a bad CPU seat, meaning bent pin somewhere, or your memory went bad. Try just 1 stick of memory.

If I have bad timing on my memory I have to reset my CMOS to get the thing to even post. I'd just reset CMOS and use 1 stick of memory, and check for a bent CPU pin. If it isn't any of those then I'd actually consider you doing some type of damage to the motherboard.

I highly doubt its CPU thermal shutdown, few seconds on wouldn't be enough to generate enough heat, even if your loop wasn't movin.

I've checked all cables and unplugged/replugged them all just to be sure.

Tried using 1 stick of ram

Did not unseat/reseat the cpu. I just cleaned the old thermal paste and applied new. Then reseated the waterblock. Doublechecked if it wasn't making contact but the thermal paste is nicely spread over the cpu and block.

Reset my CMOS and still wont boot.

Now It still boots and I hear my dvd drive and HDDs spin up. But my monitor wont wake and my keyboard wont light up.

I still have some issues from time to time that it shuts itself down right after I boot it and then restarts itself. After the second boot it keeps running but as I said no monitor or usb lights.

^ Did you put that one stick of RAM in each dimm socket? Some boards only work with B1, for example, in certain situations. Just a precaution cause you didn't mention that specifically.

Last time that happened (I know it sounds stupid) but I had my monitor on DVI and I was using HDMI, check your monitor in case ? We never know haha
Other than that did you reset the CMOS ?

yes I tried every slot.

And I reset the CMOS indeed.

But I tried listening with all fans off and I hear something very weird:

A hissing sound - almost like air escaping BUT - I unplugged all my fans and my pump just to check if something is interferring with my system.

Can this be the motherboard? I unplugged my GPU as well.

I even tried a spare PSU: same problems.

But the sound is loud and scares me cause that's never a good sound. Is something shortcircuiting/burning/Liquid heating?
When the pc powers up the sound is the loudest, then dissipates but after a while it gets louder again and then slowly goes away for a few seconds and comes back. etc

this doesnt sound good.
