Please post when you receive the drives, it'd be really interesting if these were made in Korea, seems like they have a bunch of european storystations at low $/GB.

That's today!!!!

That's today!! Ahh I'm debating a lot whether to get this. I may just end up biting if it is from Korea. Coupon ends today.

But I wonder where that one guy got it for 70 a year ago?

The eagle has landed...

Pull off the rubber feet that are glued onto the bottom and there will be two screws...

Remove them and then pry the case open along the bottom and you'll get your easter egg:

Sill a little more dis-assembly left...

Big huge massive thanks and REP to claes for spotting these hidden treasures. Now my 8TB zfs pool is about to become 16TB this weekend!

I bought two of these and I am very happy as now I will be able to put together my server but they deactivated the product! I am so mad, I was going to buy two more today.

EDIT: A little warning. I read someone who bought these enclosures and pulled the drives, he says there are some differences, the drives spin down a lot more frequently and doesn't recognize all SATA power management features. He said nothing he did was able to change that, AAM, nor the Samsung tools. He said this applies to the "HD204UI/VP4" drives in these enclosures. I have pulled and benched these drives and while the throughput is roughly on par with the original Samsung HD204UI drives I have, the the access time was several MS higher.

So, I bought some of these China factory Samsung/Seagate, from everything I was able to read these are pretty much identical to the original Samsung drives, just with the Seagate sticker and part number. So I bought 2 of those and we will see how those stack up.

TLDR:
I know I've had problems with the OEM drive spinning down in the past, but that could be fixed with Windows Power Management - have you tried that?
If that doesn't work, seem like the solution might be to use hdd-scan as mentioned above with the unusual APM settings. I don't know if the quoted user tried but hdd-scan has a command line feature that can be used to reapply the settings at boot, so that might fix the problem they were having.

Also FYI the Seagate versions are $99 right now. My opinions on this have been detailed, but if you need to expand your RAID...
