They call it a bribe, I call it a loyalty incentive.

It's a bribe as far as the EU is concerned, and that's really all that matters here.

Errr no, a loyalty incentive would be this:
"Buy X amount of products with Intel chips, we give you X products free/cheaper with rebates! The more you promote us the more we reward you!".

And instead they did something along the lines of this:
"Don't buy anything from AMD or we screw you over. Also here's some extra cash to delay the releases of product with AMD chips, make sure our stuff is sold first."

Sorry but that's dirtiest/lowest form of "loyalty", for most it would fall firmly within the realms of bribery. Also how do you explain bribing people to delay releases or products with AMD chips in them? Is that "loyalty" too?

But meh, innocent until proven guilty.

Well to be specific, the United States, Japan, South Korea and the EU all think it was a bribe.

Basically, Intel was ruled to pay OEMs to not use the competition, more than the cost of the computer. Intel's CPUs were much more inferior in performance, power consumption, and heat when the lawsuit started. That is like if AMD paid OEMs to prevent them selling computers with Nvidia 8800. I do not think customers would want that.

No, they are being anti-competitive. It is illegal. It is bad for you and it is bad for me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-competitive_practices

since when cant you appeal to a decision!lol!

also intel did not prevent anybody from buying whatever they want, they just gave very good incentive to everybody that wanted them(okok and didnt want them also)
you wanted to buy a gpu from amd you could still get a gpu from amd!this only affected pre made computer!

To those saying "it's just business", bear in mind that at one point Dell was actually making more money from these "discounts" than from their computer sales...

Which is the exact segment from whence both Intel and AMD derive a substantial portion of their revenue. Losing nearly all OEM sales would mean death for AMD, and also the reason why Intel wanted to own it all. Intel and AMD couldn't care less about the "OCN segment" of gamers who buy 3930Ks and 8150s to play Cawadoody. Those sales are negligible.
