help with a $900 AMD Bulldozer build.

Hi guys, I need a tad bit of help here smile.gif

I am upgrading from a pentium 4 single core 3.0ghz prescott based computer, and want to build a computer with the fx 8120. Want to use it for pretty much everything: Gaming, making youtube videos, audio editing, and anything else i can find to dabble in!

I know the whole discussion about intel being better, and that the new pentiums and i3's can outperform the FX series in gaming. This is going to be more than just a gaming machine though, and I want to go with AMD no matter what.

So my question for you guys is, can you help me find a good build that can handle the majority of games that are out today where they will look ok at 1080p for a price of $900? This is without a case and I would prefer to use newegg only please! Although if there are better deals on other sites I will consider them/

Aside from the obvious, I will need an OS and optical drive. However i will NOT need a PSU

Also, microcenter is not an option.

can i suggest you wait a little bit longer until pile driver comes out? should be out in a couple months and should be much much better then bulldozer. from what I've read most ppl were let down by bulldozer.

aside from that a $900 rig is definitely possible. (supposing the new piledriver is similar price to the current bulldozer)

Well, there's always going to be better things around the corner imo, and I've done nothing but wait and wait frown.gif

So I would love to go ahead and start up on a build, if PD comes out and it is as astounding as it is supposed to be then I will just upgrade later. PD will be on the am3+ socket so I should have no problem there! Compared to my current dell setup from like 2003-2005(cant remember when it was bought lol) even the BD will be a massive upgrade. I mean, 4 modules and 8 cores(i know each module shares resources) vs a single core has me drooling xD

Also, would the 6100 be able to do a decent bit of video editing without problems?

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/551?vs=434 ... Still want AMD?

What is your justification for going AMD when Intel is better....painfully better.

You can get yourself a nice 3570K build that will destroy anything you throw at it for more or less the same price...
