Looking for someone to build me a Gaming pc for a budget

Hello forums, i am new to this website but i hope i can get some help/ someone who builds budget computers routinely.

First off allow me to apologize first off if i am making this thread in an incorrect forums.

Ok here i go. I am a WoW player and i raid in 10 man scenarios, my current set up handles 10 man somewhat fairly but we will be making the jump to 25s come the new expansion and i know for a fact that i will NOT be able to perform at all over 5FPS on 25m raids because i have tried it in the past. I also play D3 and i am already on the LOWEST settings possible ( incluiding turning off game sounds) and i video lag like a champ, and if there are packs of enemies and/or im in multiplayer and everyone is casting at once...i drop down to what feels like 1FPS.

MY current set up is outdated, thats why im looking for help, i am not knowledgeable when it comes to setting something myself up, thats why i need help.

i have a US$500-600.00 budget, i want a set up that can help me achieve smooth game play in 25 man condtions on at least high settings (at least a good 30FPS on such scenario).

I am coming up from an intel Celeron 3.0Ghz (single core), a GeForce G210 1Gb video card, 4Gb RAM DDR2 , 450W PSU, 120Gb HDD, Midtower case, OS WIN 7 32-bit.

Thanks in advanced for the help.

Well im currently at work and not in front of my pc right now from off the top of my head...

Monitor : has VGA conector

Mouse and Keyboard , My harddrive as a stated before is 120Gb ummmm Believe is IDE. case is a Midtower (cant remember brand name, but looking to replace with something a little more oriented towards keeping a good video card/ GPU properly cooled).

Im sorry if this answer is a bit "lame" or not helpfull

like i stated before i am not very Technically Savvy and have certain limitation on tech speak.

Thank a MILLION for the quick reply and the help

Just a quick round up. Probably can save more buying a used Video card and maybe reusing your PSU, ODD and HDD.

EVGA 01G-P3-1361-KR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $149.99

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) - $46.99

ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - $114.99-$10.00 Instant =$104.99

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core - $219.99

Subtotal: $521.96

I'd say keep the hard drive, unless you have a retail copy of win 7, cause it's expensive to buy new. You can prob also keep the optical drive, and case (depending on if it supports ATX)

Then an i3, phenom x4, or an A8. 100/130$
motherboard to support. 70$
PSU: Corsair 500 Watt CX500 V2 Builder Series 50/60$
RAM: Corsair Vengaence 8gb 1600 50/60$
GPU: 560 ti? 7770? your choice.

welcome to OCN!

seems like you can keep your psu, case and HDD to keep your costs down,

you should look at updating your motherboard, cpu, videocard and ram...

they make adapters to connect your older hdd just one option.

what case and pdu do you currently have? is it pre-built?

Edit: buying second hand isn't a bad option either...

im looking at getting a newer video card myself since i too am running geforce 210 variant.

Does this mean that i can run all these components with the current Case and PSU that i posted up earlier? Will the graphics card handle it?

My case and PSU both came together so i assume it is a prebuilt. The psu location on the case is kinda different than what ive seen before, and instead of being located on the TOP BACK part of the case, is located on the BOTTM and FRONT of the case (in other words to be able to conect the PSU there is a long black cable that goes INTO the PSU from the A/C conector INSIDE the case, does this help at all?)

I GREATLY apreciate all the feedback im getting and im really gratefull for all you guys taking the time to help out.

Yup. You should be able to. But if you want you can get corsair CX600 which is 69.99 and 49.99 AMIR to be on the safe side.

Just checked. Key will work for both versions. Get Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder and it will pull the key. Find an ISO of 7 64bit and good to go on 8GB.

EDIT: Parts wise you could go with something like this.

- AMD A8-3870K $120
- ASUS 6670 $100 Teamed with APU for 6690D2
- 8GB DDR3 $50
- ASROCK Mobo $75 Picked mATX just in case.
- Antec 300 w/ PSU $100
- Pick up a 120GB SSD on sale somewhere or on these forums.

Total: ~ $500-550

I think, throwing money on gfx card would be more beneficial than onto the CPU. I would suggest you get these:

HD 6850 for 149$ or HD 6870 for 169$ and of course, hd 6870 is around 10-15% faster than HD 6850 and only 20$ more expensive.

Phenom x4 965 for 120$

ASrock motherboard for 60$

Get 2 pieces of 2GB memory (1600 mhz ddr3) and that would cost you 30-40$ at most.

Get a case worth 40$ (some good ones out there)

Antec 450W worth 40$

Around 439$ with HD 6850 and 459$ with HD 6870 and you can use DVD rom and Hard drive which you already have...

CPU: i5-3450 ($190)
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=70543&vpn=BX80637I53450&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1015
If you're near a microcenter, you can get this for about $45 less. An i3-2100 would probably be just as good for WoW, and save you some money. It's a dual-core processor w/hyperthreading compared to the i5's true-quad-core and slightly newer architechture.

Motherboard: Asrock b75 ($73 rebate)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157313

CPU Cooler: Stock Intel cooler.

RAM: 2x4gb 1333mhz ($40)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231424
You can only use 4gb of ram due to windows 7 32-bit. But if you later get windows 8 (or join the windows 8 trial program), you'll be happy you have 8gb. And it's only like $15 more.

GPU: EVGA 460 ($97)
http://www.evga.com/products/prodlist.asp?switch=20 (bottom of page!)
+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812198022
(thanks poster below. Getting two would be silly though.)

Case: Bit Fenix Outlaw ($45)
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63255&vpn=BFC%2DOLW%2D100%2DKKN1%2DRP&manufacture=BitFenix&promoid=1223
Case is largely a matter of personal preference. This is a decent budget case that's not wacky looking. If you want shiny, wacky, with blue LEDs, look at the Zalman z9 or z11 cases.

PSU: Antec Neo Eco 450c ($35)
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=60491&vpn=NEO%2DECO450C&manufacture=Antec&promoid=1223

HDD: Seagate 500gb ($65)
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63468&vpn=ST500DM002&manufacture=Seagate&promoid=1015
Only like $20 to double the size to a 1TB, and another $25 or so to go to 2TB, depending on your space needs. Also, SSD not included, but might be nice if you have more $$ later.

DVD-burner ($10)
http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=60731&vpn=GH22NS70&manufacture=LG%20Electronics%20USA&promoid=1223

Total: $555
not included: speakers/headphones/mic/other peripherals, but I assume you have those. you might be able to re-use your PSU (if it's a decent model), but at this point you might as well give your computer away to a relative or neighborhood kid rather than just junk it.

This setup should play WoW smoothly at maximum graphics settings even if you upgrade to a better monitor.

Major upgrades to consider in the near future:

($235-240) A quality IPS 23" monitor like the Dell Ultrasharp u2313hm. As a bonus: your old monitor becomes a nice non-gaming adjunct so you don't have to alt-tab out to visit wowhead or the guild website or mess with ventrilo volume settings (is wowhead still around?).

($120) A 128gb SSD, which will give the programs you place upon it zoom-zoom fast load times. And that's all it will do. (Edit: but for MMOs like WoW, it can provide some minor in-game benefits when the game loads graphics on-the-fly). If you don't feel like your HDD is too small with your current computer, you could get just this and not the HDD above.

The a8-3870k build is bad. Not only is it significantly weaker than either the build I offered or shadowboss', but it doesn't even make sense beyond that. An APU will perform better with 1866 mermory, which isn't that expensive, and the poster selected 1600mhz memory as if it was an intel system.

Shadowboss' build is decent, but he could do better on a few components by going outside of newegg & it didn't seem to me that the OP was looking to spend time learning to/perfecting an overclock, which would make an i3 build a better processor for the same price or a sandy bridge pentium a better processor for cheaper.

The 2nd one I liked was $100 cheaper than yours, plenty fast, and wasn't looking to overclock really. Your build being $100 more would not have been too much faster, if at all.

Shadowboss assumed recycling of HDD & DVD-burner, so his build was really only about $40 cheaper. And yes, $40 cheaper in the hands of a decent budget planner can get you an equivalent video card and a crappier CPU. And not overclocking with the slower & overclockable-for-very-little-increased-cose AMD processors is rather foolish, another reason the Intel build I suggested is better.

Recommending the a8-3870k with that RAM is still indefensible.

Not that it matters to the OP. He hasn't posted since page one and has probably abandoned the project.

Done arguing I said the 2nd build with the Phenom II processor and the faster 6850 that is faster than a gtx460

I take back the GTX460 being slower, it's on par and cheaper than the 6850. I can see using the GTX460, but still not the processor that's almost $100 more.

A quick question.
Do you live near a microcenter?

Because they have some awesome Motherboard+Processor deals.

Edit:
My recommendation:

40 - Fractal Design Core 1000
40 - Corsair CX430 V2 (500W and 600W version available but not necessarily needed)
90 - i3 2100 (@MicroCenter)
55? - Cheapest mATX 1155 Motherboard you can find that you're happy with feature wise
50 - 8GB of Sumsung LP 1600 (Or you could go with some 1333 RAM. This is a 15$ investment in awesomesauce.)
90 - Samsung 830 120GB SSD (@newegg /w promo code starting monday)
0 - Existing Copy of Windows

SubTotal: 365$ give or take and not including any instance of sales tax

+ Most Expensive GPU You Can Buy

Edit ²:
Recommended GPU's:price List
- HD 7850
- Used GTX 560 Ti (check OCN MarketPlace)
- Used 6850 (OCN MarketPlace)

there's a modern gaming PC on a major budget.
