I've got my 3770k to 4.9ghz stable, Now what? :P

So i've got my 3770k to 4.9ghz STable and it is stable according to me, 20 runs of linx with AVX @ 15gb (i've got 16GB Ram) i hit 84C average 77 being lowest on core one and 87C being highest on core 3.

How do i lower temps, My gaming temps are about 60C give/take, IS there anyway to lower temps? i was going to go for 5ghz, but that'd require more then 1.320 volts, And the temps spike way to high for that.

It seems like you have a great overclock. I would keep it there. Although in reality you could go higher considering it is only going up to 60C during normal usage, so you do have some headroom in that sense. The prime95/linx temps are highly unrealistic and your system will pretty much never hit those high of temperatures ever.

Really the only way you are going to be able to go higher and keep it under 90C during stress tests would be either
1) Replace the TIM under the IHS with something like coollaboratory liquid pro
2) Get something like a TEC block for a water cooling system or go phase change cooling.

any particular reason you want such a high OC for 24/7 usage? There's only like 2 games that actually make a difference between stock settings, and an OC to 4ghz and that's Skryim, and I THINK starcraft 2

Sc2, Rift, World of warcraft, Skyrim all benefit from high clock speeds, And i happen to play all but skyrim.

I was thinking of getting a TEC for it, But i don't know who makes one, as i certainly cant do it myself, I've got an RX 360 and EX 360 rad, so more then enough dissipation

To lower temps you can turn off hyper-threading, which will reduce performance in most tasks, you can use a better cooler, setup better airflow and use better fans.

I doubt hyperthreading would be turned off for you.

Can we see your case airflow?

I assume from your sig you're using watercooling so setting the top triple rad (which I assume you have) as intake would decrease temps a degree-two but might increase your motherboard temps (your vrms if not watercooled) and other things.

Furthermore, any chance of a budget for changing radiator/fans which would be the easiest to accomplish. Thicker radiators/denser with higher-speed fans might get you another drop in temps.

Finally can you lower your ambient temperature at all with some form of climate control? Do you have an ac? A heating system? Something to dial down/up to drive your room temperature down?

These are the only things you can do I'm afraid and in reality they wont do too much and they ALL have their drawbacks.

To be honest your current temperature is perfect even if you're stressing it 100% constantly. Unless you're benching/folding I see no need for an extra few ghz as the voltage for a higher clock will definitely push it too far temperature wise. There's not very much you can do without a serious budget to get any significant improvement.

GL in finding something and dude, 4.9ghz on IVY BRIDGE IS RIDICULOUS!

Go for 5ghz

Your temps are fine.. Anything below 95c is fine.. dont push it past that point tho..

My gaming temps.png 3906k .png file Here is a pic of my gaming temps with wow open.

My setup is..

HAF X
120MM fan just behind front grill, then 200mm fan between that and HDD RACK, Flushing air inwards, I have a 200mm fan on the side panel flushing air inwards, The top rad being the only rad inside the case, is the EX 360, that has 2 200's above it then 3 120 or 140's below it (can't remember sorry) Then, On the back i have a rad mounted with a koolance rad bracket 3 ultrakazes and 2 ordinary corsair fans in push pull, the kazes doing the pushing.

IT goes
Res>Cpu>Gpu>gpu>RX 360 (External rad) > EX 360 (INternal rad blowing air into the case) >REs (My pump is in my res)

Due to me keeping EIST on, Cpu speed fluctates when the game is not in focus. Throttlestop has my max temps, but they tend to sit at about 60

5ghz Evaded me on the 2600k i used to have, I would like 5g's on IVy, and yes before anyone asks, i've got two 7970s in crossfire, Though crossfire is disabled for wow, due to having DX11 + water issues with cat 12.7

I'd like to get a Drop in TEC like mindchill makes, But i seem to have lost contact with him, he's probably busy.

Even at full load when i'm folding for hours on both 7970s + the 3770k, The radiators are icy cold to touch and temps are still low, The 7970s never go above 36C since the second rad was added and thats with furmark.

I just checked the IVy stable club thread, And i'd have king of the hill of that, But i don't want to brutalise my chip for 12 hours with prime, Given primes failure rate in the past....

PRIME SAYS ITS GOOD TO GO
*Launchs wow*
*Bluescreens due to instability*

But if i was able to find a TEC, i would go all out on it, I'd want to be sitting at 15-20C LOAD max.

Edit: That was supposed to be an edit to the above post O_o, firefox you is wierd...

Phase is fun, haven't played with TEC much except for chilling water a bit, but it's better than air or regular water.

The main problem with phase, is i hear it can make ALOT of noise and it tends to be very complicated.

correct me if i am wrong, But isn't phase change cooling similar to how a fridge works?
