Nope. I heard a new line of AMD CPUs utilizing the AM3+ socket are going to be released within the year.

They will be better/improved bulldozers.

But don't you lose out on features? Sure you can get the new cpu, but aren't there features you will miss if you don't upgrade your mobo as well?

yeah, same as any mobo out there, including intel's. if you consider intel's z77 mobos are dead already because there will be new mobos coming out next year and you will miss out new features if you don't upgrade your mobo, then yes AM3+ is dead.

plus AMD always sticks to their socket and it's backwards compatibility, unlike intel that keep on changing sockets.

Does your motherboard run your current CPU? If yes, keep it.

If no, return it. Trying to futureproof in the computer parts market is moronic.
