ATI Upgrade

Thread Starter
My wife wants to play NWN2 with me. Her computer is an emachines box:
AMD 3400
Some MSI mobo ati chipset
1gig cheapo ram
Recommended is an ATI X800 or better.
What do you think I should put in the e-box? BTW it's a PCI-e slot. Links would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

How much you want to spend on it?

This would be a good deal... let's hope it's back in stock soon:

<$100 would be nice as she wouldn't use it that often.

I wouldn't recomend anything lower than this since the x8xx series doesn't support sm 3.0.

This is as cheap as it goes for a card that supports all the latest features

Those are very nice cards! I believe I'll have to wait until newegg restocks that EAX1950PRO. It seems well worth the extra $30 or so. Just a quick question: Is that card better or worse than my 7800gtx?

Better. My X1900GT beats a 7900GT when both are at stock, and X1950Pro is even better, just a hair below a 7950GT. But then if and only if the X1950Pro can't change voltages through software should you go for a X1900GT Rev 1.

I may just pick that bad boy up and change mine out It's kind of sad though. I told myself I'd wait until DX10 came out....
