[Yahoo] Best Buy Tries on Apple's Sleek Look - Page 2

Bestbuy needs to work on lowering prices rather then fixing garbage geek squad. Yes its a better look/feel but the prices instore are still the major concern

Me.

I have never purchased digital music and don't plan on it. Hell, I started buying vinyl again... The only DVD's I buy are concerts or Music Video collections. There is a store a ways from me, but I will travel to them because they caryy just about any CD or DVD you will ever want. If they don't have it, they will order it. Their prices are better than Amazon or even Fry's...

So they're going to spend money on their image, when in reality, they need to spend money on training their employees to be more knowledgeable and more helpful rather than only being after that sale...

This doesn't have fail written all over it at all. rolleyes.gif

I have not purchased a CD in a good 12+ years & Bestbuy's wacky over priced Blurays & DVD's are crazy high. I buy Blurays strictly from amazon. bestbuys entire company is outdated including prices

Only way they're going lower their pricing and compete w/ online biz is to reduce their overhead.

This, I always assumed they were failing because their prices were too high. Whose genius idea was it to spend more money on a cosmetic change? Get it? Genius? Apple? tongue.gif

I agree, I never go to Best Buy in real life or online due to the fact that their products are so ridiculously overpriced compared to just buying it online at Amazon for a lower price, fast shipping, no tax and free shipping usually. Laying off the Geek Squad makes sense, who wants to spend hundreds for very basic computer procedures? I'm sure there are people that do it, but I highly doubt it's a very logical business strategy.

please stop buying vinyl, unless it is only available in that format. people have this weird emotional connection to something that has more background noise and distortion and degrades over time. download lossless or buy cds, never vinyl

Best Buy... do you not get it? We're not shopping your stores because they're ugly, we're not shopping your stores because your prices are terrible. Fix your prices. I don't shop at Amazon because I'm not taxed on the front end.

As for Geek Squad... yeah, that wasn't a good idea ever. It's sad you didn't figure this out before you hired the people that are now left jobless.

To those losing your jobs, don't give up hope. I'm sorry Best Buy is doing that to you.

About 5 years ago I was upgrading a friend's ancient computer for them using some components I had laying around. I wanted to give them one of my spare hard drives but it was SATA and their motherboard was only IDE.

I was in best buy looking through the computer stuff when an employee asked me if I needed help. I said I was looking for a PCI card that had SATA ports. He said he was certain that nothing like that even existed. Just then I spotted what was looking for on the shelf and grabbed it and just shook my head... It was right in front of us and that guy worked in that department and had no clue it even existed...
