I was paying 60 bucks for Samsung F3 1Tb drives! In fact I haven't bought another mechanical since Sammies were that price. Newegg had the F3 1TB's for 77 bucks so it's getting closer than before.

In a world where I can get a 512gb M4 for €315, I no longer particularly care about HDD prices.rolleyes.gif

Ive had a seagate barracuda 1Tb drive for a year or two,,,Have had no qualms or issues with it...Been running fine... Maybe its Newegg snding out bad items ( if they boght e from newegg). In my sig rig, almost every item in there that came from Newegg had an issue...Case has cracked glass near screws, Original motherboard by ASRock has been RMA'd a few times, waiting to test 3rd mobo, the RAM came with 1 bad stick...Everything I bought from Microcenter was issue free and I had no trouble with.

Hitachi's supply wasn't lowered, as they weren't affected by the floods.

This may not be true. Which makes all of this m00t

Although I could have sworn I saw an article that Hitachi was barely effected by the flood, if at all.

This doesn't matter. Demand was much higher than supply. Hard drive demand is unified, it isn't separated between companies (well, only slightly).

This could just be a one off sale, not proof that HDD prices are dropping. I hope the prices are dropping though, I want to get a couple of 4TB HDDs for games and other things. I don't really want to get them now because they are £260 each frown.gif

Drive capacity always double about every year, it seems like the flooding has really slowed down their progress not only producing drives but innovating. I want to see 5TB drives with a decent price.
