CF Flicker 6870

Thread Starter
Hi , I just added a 2nd 6870 to my existing 6870, System boots fine but when I launch a game i get flicker with lines across the screen.I see the game but there's flicker.

1) Does the Bridge have to be in a specific way?
2)I'm on 12.7 but for the love of God can't get 12.7 Cap1 downloaded(Tried a million sites..all direct me to AMD.com but cant get the download started) .Is that the issue?

AMD x6 1055T @ 3.7
8gb Vengeance
MSI - 890GX - GM65
1GB Sapphire 6870(Stock Clock)
1GB HIS 6870(Stock Clock)
CM GX650 PSU

Tried Max Payne 3 and F1 2011

Thanks.

You'll definitely need the correct CAP to get optimal performance. AMD uses a third-party hosting company called Akamai, one of the world's largest, to host our downloads for drivers and CAPs. It appears they're having trouble this morning.

I've rehosted the CAP for you on my Dropbox: http://db.tt/uVGgp4ve

Hey, the issue was with the Bridge,I swapped it and it went away.

I ran Dirt Showdown utilized the GPU1 and 2 99% and it scales beautifully, but other games dont utilize the GPUs fully.

Every game will have a different level of utilization. DiRT Showdown is heavily optimized for Radeon hardware, so its scaling will be particularly good. But damn near any modern game should give you a pretty sizable benefit at this point.

Yea i figured Dirt because its fuled by AMD , But F1 2011/ Dirt 3/ Crysis 2 seem to be performing poorly.I,ve never done CF before so anything a beginner would do wrong?

Do you have both GPUs shoved right against one another, causing the bottom GPU to inhale stale/hot air? Are both cards operating at less than 80C?

Did you perform a clean install of the drivers? Have you tested each card individually to make sure they work? Have you reseated the CrossFire cable?

Yes both work. I have re seated the CF cable.Funny thing is if all games dint scale id get it, but 1 game does great and others dont. I did run driver sweeper.Cards 1 goes to 82 Max if its a heavy game.

Very few games will run with the gpu usage pegged.
You will regularly see 60-99% usage, settings, resolution, game environment/level/mp/sp, these will dictate gpu usage, just to name a few.
Oh and cpu speed can also be a determining factor.

You need to look at in game fps, ignore usage for now.
Compare the scaling, single card vs CFX, some examples here of what to expect.
