GA-990FXA-UD3 ethernet controller disappeared

Hey, I recently got a new HD and when I installed it and booted up my system, Ethernet Controller disappeared. I cant even see it in device manager. When I downloaded the driver and installed it, it threw an error saying device not found. Tried re-seating RAM, VRAM, and even the HD's but no results. Did notice however in the BIOS that I couldn't access the smart LAN option. I have a feeling that even the BIOS inst seeing my Ethernet/LAN controller. Any ideas as to why my controller disappeared?

more info: Just noticed the Ethernet light is a constant green regardless of the computer being on or off or Ethernet cable being plugged in or not.
I looked this up and it looks like its a defective Ethernet port. Going to contact Gigabyte and see how it goes. will update later

You might be right about defective port. But have you tried reseting BIOS?

Do i take the CMOS battery out for that or is there just a reset bios option? I have never actually had to do that before

There should be a button somewhere on motherboard to press. Check the back where all the USB ports are.

Sorry for the late update....but:

Tried resetting the CMOS, pulled out the battery, flashed previous bios i had saved, and reseated all but the CPU nothing changed and the controller never showed up. Also the Ethernet controller had a solid green led on. So I'm pretty sure that my controller has gone bad. Wrote to Gigabyte but they haven't responded yet.

I lost the ethernet port on my Crosshair IV when I shorted out the USB port with my external HDD. RMAed for a CHV
