Thread Starter
I am looking to buy a new laptop, and my budget is 799.99 cdn as with taxes and possible shipping i reached my limit.

i am looking for something with a good name behind it, light gaming, and good actual computing power to have lots of thingsrunning at once, as well as have a sturdy well built machine as well.

games such as diablo 3 just as an example.

i have been lookingat lenovo, and asus to have some solid machines.

all help is appreciated, thanks

Hi there, I just recently bought a light gaming laptop in Canada capable of "actual computing power" as you put it for about that price. After weeks of research I settled on the W25AES, a low mid-range Clevo (if you haven't heard that name head on over to this thread) and am quite happy with it.

The easiest way to get one in Canada is through Reflex Notebook who sell Sagers (the most popular US rebrand of Clevo's shells) with free shipping. The Sager name for the W25AES is the NP3260. You'll find a very informative thread on Canadian buying here. For less than your budget before taxes the computer comes with an i5-3210M @ 2.5 GHz, a GT 630M 1 GB (benchmarks here), 500 GB of storage, and the possibility to easily upgrade parts as more money becomes available. I would highly recommend getting the 1920x1080 glossy screen if you can afford it as it's one of the best panels out there. If you can't, this site will sell the LP156WF1(TL)(B2) to you for $100 with shipping and taxes when the money's there. The $780 configuration does not come with an OS, but as you seem to have Windows 7 already that obviously isn't necessary.

Anyway I'd recommend doing lots of reading on the Clevo forum before you settle for a cheap paperweight from Lenovo or Asus. Those two only make fine laptops for the higher budgets.
