Finishing up my build; need case recommendation

What I have already bought or picked so far:

BOUGHT:

- i7 3770k
- Gigabyte Z77 UD5 Motherboard
- MSI Twin Frozr III HD 7950
- 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 G.SKILL Ripjaws
- Samsung 830 256 GB
- Western Digital Caviar Black 750 GB
- Plain ASUS DVD Drive

UNDECIDED:

- Corsair TX750
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021

- CPU cooler is undecided. Thinking of Corsair H100, Hyper 212+, or Noctua NH D-14

Which case should I get to house all of this? I'm fine with either a mid or full tower. I would prefer something aesthetically pleasing.

Aesthetically pleasing is a bit subjective... tongue.gif

First off, what is your budget?

Do you like LEDs and lots of textures/vents? Or maybe something sleek and conservative? I can give you some suggestions once I know a little more thumb.gif
post #3 of 24
Corsair 800D
HAF-X
Cooler Master COSMOS II

You don't need a 750w PSU. A good quality 550w PSU will be more than fine.
As for the CPU cooler, the thermalright silver arrow is better than all the coolers listed but is slightly harder to install. However, it is quieter but may collect more dust on average due to the sheer size of the cooler.

Hope this helps you get a good case and helps save money on a cheaper cooler and PSU.

The budget for the case is $150.

I like LED lights and vents. Don't want something too plain.

And I plan to get one more HD 7950 in the future for Crossfire, so the 750w might be necessary. The discount Newegg has for that power supply also seems to make it a good deal.

I would spend a little more on the PSU and get something modular, like the HX750.

As for cases, the NZXT Phantom is very popular. Also you can look at the CoolerMaster HAF932, and Silverstone Raven RV02-BW. I would probably stick with a full tower case if you are planning on crossfiring and going with a large CPU cooler.

Has computer case technology changed much in the last year? Those cases you listed came out in 2010 or 2011.

Aside from USB 3.0, is there any other change in technology I should be wary of when looking at cases?

Those are all good cases, the Phantom is pretty new, there really isn't much that changes. Large CPU cutouts ensure compatibility with new CPU sockets, and there aren't any GPUs that won't fit in one of those cases. If you want something a little more conservative, take a look at the NZXT Switch 810, it is new and very popular.

You should get a corsair 650D smile.gif
It is a solid metal case, quite roomy, subtle looking yet sexy.

HAF-X, HAF 932. Also the Phantom and the Switch 810. These are great cases. Good for those who like LEDs and vents. The Switch 810 is a little more conservative, while the HAF series is a bit more "military looking".(My wifes description) I feel like the Phantom has a good balance.

**To the poster above me** The 650 is more subtle but its NOT WHAT HE ASKED FOR. Wish people would read before posting. Its still the first page people.

The Ravens are definatley cool too.

Get a Rosewill Blackhawk:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147107

or a thor v2:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147158

or if you don't like either, the NZXT Phantom looks cool.

as for coolers I would totally go with the Corsair h100.
