Isn't high?

Yeah, it is.

I forgot to ask something:  when you installed the A50, did you apply thermal paste in between the gaps of the exposed pipes first?

Oh.  That's why the temps are as high as they are.  Those gaps need to be filled in order to get the maximum heat dissipation that this heatsink is capable of.  Right now, it's not at its full potential because the parts where those gaps are located are not helping to dissipate the heat.  By putting thermal paste in those gaps, it's like the CPU is also touching the heatsink in between those exposed pipes thereby transferring heat to much more surface area on the heatsink.

Right now it's kind of like a 6-cylinder engine only running on 4 cylinders.

Hmm.  The temps of 88 and 93 are uncomfortable, so I'm leaning a bit towards stopping the test to improve the thermal paste application.  :/  I'd hate to think of it running at those temps for much longer.  I don't know if it's harmful, but it's also pretty close to the Tj. Max which could result in the CPU automatically throttling itself down which would make the test become a waste of time anyway.

I feel like this is a tough call, but I am leaning towards improving the thermal paste application before going further.

I

I added a second fan provisionally from a old case and temps down a bit biggrin.gif I think I need to buy a good CPU Fan.

Test without problems until now

Or wait:  lagger!

Anyway, hehehe  so you're not going to "improve the thermal paste" as I mentioned?  I'm confident that if you put paste in between the pipes and improve the thermal paste application like that, then the temps will be better.  However, I have to admit that a decent push/pull air cooler would be better.  ;)

Yes I'll improve. I only need to buy a new thermal paste smile.gif

So how to apply thermal paste? 600

Oh wow, it's stable.  We did it!!

Here's the best thermal paste application method for HDT heatsinks:

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=150&Itemid=62&limit=1&limitstart=5

They go a bit far with "lapping" the heatsink, but I say just keep it simple and apply the paste as they recommend.
