Ah, but the "rebate" is a $100 American Express card. If only it were a check or cash. :/

Not sure if you have a walmart or not but they cash those cards out for a fee.

Well the LTE got S-Off last week so it's wide open now.. Plus most of the big CDMA names are developing for it. As far as the S3 goes I'm sure it'll come along after a month or so it'll achieve S-Off too. There are some pretty talented Samsung CDMA devs, I've just never personally really been pleased with their efforts. As it is a Samsung device I'm sure CM will be on it rather quickly if you prefer that route.

LTE has root + S-Off, S3 will get them eventually.. HTC vs Sammy on OTA support, I'd give it to HTC but I'm not the best judge.. I don't flash OTAs. In short, you have nothing to worry about then. thumb.gif

I would go with the SGS3. Both has poor OTA support. Samsung lets things bake in the oven a little longer and HTC pushes them out despite the bugs. In both cases we are depended on the community for the real updates.

But if OTA's is the main concern about an Android phone I would stick with a nexus. Anything else isn't really going to be support for very long. Both of these devices will probably be seeing CM10 so the community will be there for you.

One of the biggest pluses for the SGS3 is that Samsung choose to release the same device for everyone. That should help a bit with the OTA speed and greatly lower the price on accessories.

Going with the SG3... just wished the camera was as good as the EVO LTE.

I'm paying $50 to upgrade now instead of September but that is off-set by the $100 AMEX.

My uncle called and tried to get it and they said it was for adding a new line only. You can't renew.
