How to set up a new SSD?

Thread Starter
Got an ssd in the mail today and need to know how to set it up. I've heard it's a pain and you have to borrow another person's computer in order to download the drivers etc. onto it before you can continue to install your boot system on it. Is this true? And how would I/should I go about setting it up?

Additional info: going to me my boot drive and have just a few games on it like diablo 3/Battlefield 3.

It's straight forward skip down to post #3 and click on "system setup after installation" follow the simple guide with youtube clips. I just picked up a vertex 4 128gb and updated the firmware to 1.5 optimized the drive and got this as result ( 103gb free of 119gb ) that includes win7 plus about ~25 programs.

Thanks and would it be better to zip, or whatever, any types of files that i put on the drive to allow it to have more room or would that be impractical?

Do you ever zip any of your files on your ssd?

no since it would be pointless to zip up executable files, all my storage is on the 2x 2tb WD black drives which the ssd accesses the data when needed thumb.gif
