Which Radeon HD 6870 should I get (these are the best cards I can get because of hackintosh) I am going to game at 5720x1080 in eyefinity with 2 of these cards (maybe 3 later) and I was wondering which model I should get.

desktop cards should have no problem with 1 gb vram if you have an ssd or a decent performance hdd.

for hacintosh, i'd say 1 gb would suffice. if you're thinking of future proofing, 2gb.

more important than that, i think you should select a model for which you can obtain kexts easily. because ultimately, that'll matter for your hackintosh

If you are going with Eyefinity then you should go 2 GB, will also benefit if you plan on using higher resolution.

You will also future proof if you go with 2 GB.

I have a kext for both of these thumb.gif I looked far and wide and this is the best card I can run also I am gonna dual boot with windows so I can play Eyefinity so I was wondering if 1 GB would be ok for gaming for the next 14 months with two of these in sli or if I should go the 2GB. Also I may only have these for the next two months to 14 months it matters when apple updates the Mac pro (so I can get kexts) this year or the next hopefully they just do it this year so I can sli some 680s or something cool like that.

2GB vram is useless on 6870, it does not have the power to use it anyway.

Ik I would rather do that but Hackintosh doesn't support 6xx yet.

2 6870s at 5720x1080 would never need more then one gb?
2 6870s should handle that resoluton, so get the 2GB versions.......guys remember the 6870 is about equal to a 470, which chokes in surround only due to its 1280MB vram
