Yes sir.

I've seen people around talking about installing drivers to get full advantage of their dualcore, so I was wondering. This is my first one. Trying to get everything set up, so I can start the overclock

There is a Dual core patch and Tweak you may need to perform found here :

Quote:
Get Windows to recognize your L2 cache on your CPU properly

( Warning: Please back-up your registry before performing this step )

By default windows sets the L2 cache of your AMD to zero...yes...0

Here's how to get it runnin.

Go to ''Start>run'' (Windows key + R) then type in "Regedit"
(regedit32 for advanced users as it provides a few more strings to play with)

Once your here go to ''HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\C ont ro l\\Session Manager\\Memory Management\\SecondLevelDataCache''

Now ''Right-click'' and choose modify...select decimal and enter the value of your L2 cache on your CPU...128,256,512...ETC!!!!

Now restart your machine ...and while you may not notice dramatic effects Overclockers...most processes and applications should be a little quicker.

This step is By ''PROBN4LYFE''
Also here is what you want :

Are you having problems with games, running with a Duel Core CPU???
Do you want more stablity???

This gives you better performance!!!

1. Go to http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/..._13118,00.html
2. Download v.1.2.2.2 (Install it)
3. Go to http://www.sendmefile.com/00287759
4.Download Hotfix (Install it)
5. Follow these steps!!!

_________________________________

1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2.Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Con tro l\\Session Manager, point to New, and then click Key.
3.Type Throttle for the new key name.
4.Right-click Throttle, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
5.Type PerfEnablePackageIdle for the value name.
6.Right-click PerfEnablePackageIdle, and then click Modify.
7.In the Value data box, type 0. Make sure that Hexadecimal is selected in the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, and then click OK.

Note You can type 1 in the Value data box to enable the new performance state policy behavior.

8.Quit Registry Editor.

Make sure your BOOT.ini has this command in it, /usepmtimer to check, right click on My Computer go to properties, click on the ADVANCE tab, then under startup and recovery click on settings, then click on EDIT....make sure your boot.ini looks like this

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\\WINDO W S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\\WINDOWS="Micr o soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

Finally your done!!!

If you wanna uninstall!

1 - Uninstall the Hotfix, go into ad/remove programs, click on show updates and remove update numbered KB896256

2 - Reverse the registry entry.

3 - Uninstall the AMD drivers.

4 - Go into your boot.ini and remove /usepmtimer, and your done.

Once again he does not need the drivers with his setup, but it is good to know where they are in case others need them.
