Constant DoD:S and CS:S Frame Lag

I've searched everywhere....reinstalled and uninstalled everything that came to mind...but i just cant get over 40fps in DoD:S or CS:S.......@ 1024 w/ NOTHING ON(even had it on BILINEAR)....wut could be the problem????



Athlon 3000+ OC'd 2.4
2 gigs
6800nu oc'd 350/877

if you are using active antivirus or disk defragmenting that might do it. Also check your system resources and see how many processes are running. Probally alot of them you can get rid of. Also defragment if you haven't in a while and do a complete system scan for viruses. Its the little things that can keep you from gaming.

Do you have vsync on? if you have vsync on and ur monitor's refresh rate is only 40hz then that would be the problem. i'm sure your monitor isnt that crappy but ur specs only say 17inch crt.

A 17" CRT can be good, mine does 1920x1440 @ 60Hz...

vsync isnt on...i defrag every 2 weeks or so.....no virus....30 processes
