BF3 micro cpu spikes.

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, recently i started notice an issue what i can describe as small cpu spikes, screenshot below.

73

Running High-Mid settings w/o HBAO/MSAA

Since im running a 120hz such spikes is annoying. I was trying different drivers, closing browser after game launched (using IE with 1 BF tab) different console commands like forcerenderaheadlimit 0 or 1 and it still pops up sometimes, like every 5-10 minutes, can happen even if im not performing anything in game. Cpu should be stable, passed a 18hours prime run. Currently running 301.42 nvidia drivers other specs in sig. What you guys think ?

What's it measuring, some sort of latency? Is there an associated stutter you can notice while playing or an FPS drop or something?

It's measuring the time cpu or gpu use to render a frame and u can see the "max" takes 53-63ms and that is the spike, Its noticeable, Im getting a feeling like everything is freezes for this 63ms delay, like a "click" then it's back to smooth again and fps can drops for around 10.

Had this problem before and it turned out that my processor was running really hot. Think like 80c. Cleaned out the dust and everything ran smoother again.

It passed 18 hours prime95 blend with 90% ram usage so im not sure if it's unstable, i can bump voltage a notch more anyway to test that.

About the PM that threadstarter sent me because I had a similar thread months ago http://www.overclock.net/t/1180641/bf3-stutter-for-a-frame-every-second/0_50#post_15877996

No I did not solve the problem, but the slowdown jerk is not noticeable during normal metro+caspian gameplay if I don't use the graph. It could be the graph itself pinging or fetching a command which caused the bottleneck spike.
I fried my old 512mb card so I can't test anything now, cannibalized the gpu fan for cpu heatsink push/pull which reduced a couple degrees (4 celcius or less) in OCCT cpu test.

Same thing, gpu line is flat solid, cpu is spiking occasional, mostly when i want to aim.

Any soultion, i menaged to lower spikes by forcing higher priority, but that is not safe solution.

Have you tried capping the frame rate? To something like 59 or 60 and see how it behaves?
