I just started overclocking my 6950 2gb and need help

to overclock i've been using trixx and furmark latest update. when overclocking the clock to 880mz i get 1 more fps and that's it. what voltage should i use. what clocks should i aiming at for a 24/7 rig. the i5 system is the rig im overclocking and was wondering is there any point to overclock my ram.

the default voltage of HD 6950 is 1.1v and of HD 6970 is 1.17v. I would say if you want stock voltage OC go for for 860 Mhz for 24/7 stability. If you want voltage OC you could go for 1.17 to 1.2v provided you can keep temps under 80c ingames. In that case you can even hit 950 Mhz. I run my XFX HD 6950 at stock voltage at 850 Mhz. I haven't felt the need to do voltage OC. so unless there is a game where you wan't more performance badly just stick to stock voltage OC.

Furmark will throttle the card unless you've adjusted powertune.

I've had 4 6950s and they all did 900@1.148v, >900 it's a crapshoot.

You need to push further, I have mine on 920Mhz with 6970 bios so same voltage as well.

You really need to go 940+ to make the OC worth while.

I use MSI Afterburner.

ok thx for all the reply's i didn't know about power tune i did some research and found this http://www.overclock.net/t/1080970/6900-series-how-do-disable-powerthrottle/20 but i don't get how to disable power tune. so if some one can give me instructions to disable power tune. that would be great.
