New rig

Im going to be getting a new pc at the end of year and im still deciding on what to get im not sure whether to get the e6300 or an amd 4200 and not sure if I will get those my price limit is about 1000$ will go to 1200 if I have to. ( 1000-1200$ Australian )

So far im getting an e6300 Conroe or amd 4200
1 gig ram
NVIDIA 7600gt
160 or 200 gig harddirve
Thermaltake soprano Case
DVD burner
Not sure on the mobo

Im building a whole new rig so any suggestions would be good.

Between the CPU's yo mention I would take the E6300. If you are able to stretch your budget, think about the E6400 (extra multiplier) or E6600 (twice the cache). Good choice on the card, if you are waiting for DX10, if not and budget allows, maybe the 7900...whatever model.

Yeah im holding out for Dx10 but ive been using this ancient pc since 2001 so im not upto date with ram since i got SDr pc133 and i dont know much about new mobos and stuff ive been reading around and stuff but can any one suggest a full set of parts from the link or what i should and should not get

I would recommend the E6600 due to the larger cache. Cache size is a huge factor in CPU performance.

Now, I realize that in Oz these things cost a lot more than here in the US - so one thing you could do is wait a little for the Quad CPU's to come out and then buy the E6600 (with the expectation that there will be a price drop).

Novemeber will bring all sorts of new announcements meaning price drops on existing HW.
