I don't like their termination though. For speaker cables I generally use WBT, but when on a budget I use Vampire as they use gold plated copper(not brass like most).
As for RCA plugs, again check out Vampire. http://www.soniccraft.com/products/connections.htm

I very much agree with gold plated copper. I have yet to use Vampire, though but I have considered them.

I have used a few from Parts Connexion. I've found this Onix set to be among the best price/performance/feature pair. It is a gold plated copper pin, where the barrel is brass. The central pin is the more important of the parts so a bit of extra money spent there for gold plated copper is OK. The barrel being brass really does not effect much. I do not like the screw on "locking" style but I have actually gotten used to it and it hasn't been a hassle. I've dealt with the locking style because of the other features of the Onix connector.

I really like DH Labs cable. I use the BL-1 for my 5 channel interconnects between power amp and pre/pro. I have the Sub-Sonic for my subwoofer cable and White Lightning for my headphone amp/DAC interconnects. I would 100% advise the BL-1 though for typical interconnect duties. The White Lightning is very basic and it's not worth buying vs something like a Monoprice or Blue Jeans. Same story for the subwoofer cable. It's just better to buy a premade sub cable. The subwoofer cable from DH Labs is very basic and thin.

All that being said, for your budget I think it would be best to consider Monoprice for all your cable needs. They have the best budget minded cables that I have used. I don't think your system would benefit from getting more expensive cabling and it would be best to spend less on cabling and more on your other gear. Consider Blue Jeans if you must make your own cables.

I'm looking to replicate the designs of Kimber Kable 4tc and 8tc for speaker wire, unsure of the Gauge I should use.

I've used Kimber Kable pre-made cables and their stuff is excellent. You can buy bulk Kimber Kable from Parts Connexion as well. However, it is a PAIN to deal with them making your own terminations.

Sounds like you have a lot of free time. biggrin.gif

It all depends on what gauge you want to end up with.

If you like the idea of a cable that resists EMI(not really an issue with speaker cables), I'd personally go with the Canare 4S11.

Honestly, I do have a ton of free time on my hands atm. Business is slow in the off season (most of the northerners cat take the heat, lol. I run a Home Technology consultation and installation company, and i am putting all of this together because I have a true love for music ever since I was 8ish (performing at the Philharmonic). Parents never had a respect for Hi-Fi. "if its cheap, small, and has some bass" its good enough for them.

Just turned 21 decided to stop skimping on what brings me true happiness, my music. I am content with my guitar's, bass, and drums; so no need to spend any money there. My parents threaten to stop paying my college if I buy a new car. Realized that the only thing that's holding back my studio work, is my experience, so no money needed there. Only thing left is my Hi-Fi system

With my Hi-Fi system, one of the goals is for it to look equally as impressive as it sounds... (hence the bold maple speakers), will probably build my own Hi-Fi rack (they are too expensive, and i have all the tools, and again its gotta be top quality). I figure power and speaker cables are a great way to add some color and life to my system, while improving the quality of sound.

I want to mimic the Kimber as closely as possible, so dual 9 gauge for the 8TC, and dual 13 for the 4TC.

Now onto the Dac/pre/power amp(s)... Wondering how much I should spend to get the most out of my speakers.
