Dual GPU on a web browsing rig

I built my dad a rig with a 4650 about a year ago, and I have a 4850 sitting around. The idea came to mind.. could I use the 4850 for BOINCing, while keeping the 4650 unaffected and at 0% usage? Aero and all that jazzy fancy stuff is enabled, and I don't want slow/throttling windows performance due to 100% usage on both gpus.
Also, what applications are recommended for ATI cards?

use cc_config and exclude the gpu that you dont want to use. i believe that the 4850 was double precision, so you can run most of the projects that are out there. some might need a newer open cl capable gpu, not sure... havent ran a 48xx card in a long time. by comparison a 5850 is like 4x more powerful for boincing than a 4850.

Moowrapper, Milkyway, Primegrid will most likely be your best bet for that card. good luck man. smile.gif

hmmmm

4650 uses 4xxx drivers.
4850 also uses 4xxx drivers.
Does this mean I do not need to install more drivers? smile.gif is it just plug and play?
