Can somone do an experiment for me? (thermal paste) (honey + graphite + heat) - Page 5

Graphite and graphene have different thermal conductivities. Graphite's thermal conductivity is between 25 and 470 shown here

Graphene's is about 10x more thermally conductive at between 4400 and 5780 shown here.

Anyone realize you can buy graphite powder in a bottle they use it for locks, that would be easier than grinding up a pencil

Isn't graphite just stacked layers of graphene?

Taken from here:

Graphene is a single atomic plane of graphite. Graphite is a stack of graphene planes. It’s very important to emphasize that all matter, all materials we knew before this, were and are three-dimensional materials. Even those that were called one- or two-dimensional were never actually one or two. Take carbon nanotubes. People might refer to them as one-dimensional, but if you look carefully, you see that a nanotube is a cylinder—thin and long but still a three-dimensional object. Here, for the first time ever, we really are dealing with strictly two-dimensional matter. We’ve never known materials like this before. In fact, it was assumed that they couldn’t exist.

Hhad no idea about that graphite powder, but especially in my case (leg in a cast and all) it would be a lot harder to find that powdered graphite in a store and get it back home, than to take a pencil, sharpen it, grind some on sandpaper, sharpen, grind, and so on tongue.gif

Okay so let me ask something.

AS-5 and this Graphite mix would do better then AS-5 alone or No?

Unknown...if I had to guess it would be the same or slightly worse with graphite as the thermal conductivity of pure silver is in the 400-430 range, but AC5 has a mix of pure silver, boron nitride, zinc and aluminum oxides and also ester.

Now AS5 and graphene...that would be a different story
