System overhaul advise

Thread Starter
Hey guys, first off thanks for stopping by and lending a hand. I really appreciate it.

Well, I've had this pc for about 2 years now and I decided to upgrade as much as I can to try to get another couple years out of it. I use this for multiple things ranging from photo/video editing to gaming and all the small things in between. I've looked through the forums and seen how great you all are with this type of thing so, I will gladly take your advise. Unfortunately however, I have a tight budget of $500 max to spend on my machine but I don’t think that will pose much of a problem for those like yourselves

Since the site is undergoing updates and I can't post my setup in my sig at the moment, so I included a VERY detailed list of my system. I know the more information about my system you have, the easier it will be for all of you to make more accurate suggestions. Once again guys, I realy appreciate all the help you give me.

i would pick up, a new mobo, probly the DFI lanparty series, a new CPU probly a 3700+ or a 4200 x2, or mabye even an opty if you can afford it, and new RAM. I'll put a list together now. i will edit to follow!

Edit: List
Mobo -- DFI LANPARTY UT SLI DR - 142.99
RAM -- G-Skill DDR 500 2x1Gb HZ PC4000 - 219.99
CPU -- Opteron 165 Denmark Core - 151.99

Edit: You'll probly want a new graphics card once you see what that can do up there... but it's a good start and when you have another 140$ you can pick up a nice new 7600GT or something like that

I think you should get:
AMD Athlon 3800+ X2:159.99$ with free shipping, and it's dual core.
Asus M2N-SLI:141.99$ with free shipping and SLI wich gives you more upgradeabilty.
2x512Mb Corsair XMS2 800mhz PC6400:153$ with free shipping and it's Dual CHannel.
Leadtek GeForce 7300GT with 128mb GDDR3(underclocked 7600gt with less mem), it will play any game well, and you can overclock it back to the 7600GT standards.

Total:544.61$ with shipping included.
This sistem has upgradeability and good value, i really think you should get it.

For a little more (15 bucks) you get a dual core proc and a SLI capable mobo, so i think my system may be more expensive but it has more advantages.

I really like this build boredom, thanks.
I think I’m going to go ahead and spend a bit more on getting the duel core processor. The only concern I have is about the motherboard. I've read through all the reviews and it seems like there are a few issues with it What do you think?
Thanks again everyone. Keep up the good work.
