WRT54GL configured as ethernet bridge is the best option IMO. Only costs $50 and works flawlessly with Tomato or DDWRT firmware, and you can connect 5 computers to it. And you can always reconfigure it to be a router or wireless access point later. Wifi cards can't be reconfigured to be anything else, and they only serve one PC at a time. They're not a smart buy when you can get a good multifunction device for the same money.

So how would this work? Would this wifi tether from my phone (supplying the Internet @4G speed) to this unit, then attach it to my desktop with an Ethernet cord?
Internet > Phone > wifi tether > WRT54GL > Ethernet cord > desktop?

alright, going with this one.
after the code it's $20. not too bad. i also like the brand ASUS.
thanks to all for all the help!

cheap...$20
pci express 1X
has good reviews. seems like all the cards have the same comments....."works great" "doesn't work"
